Do you also need someone to help you with grammar? One guy skips the word “almost” and you the word “or”. Sometimes reading carefully before responding would help.

The point is when you have a weakness you go out and get a decent free agent or spend a high draft pick to try and solve it.”
Adding 4 players isn't almost nothing. They spent their high draft pick on a weakness. Decent free agents? Name a decent free agent. Where do you get decent free agents when there is a shortage of olinemen?

Maybe they did, see Richards and Bass. I don't know what you expect them to do. They thought about it in the 1st but decided on Mazi Smith. They very well could draft one in the 1st next year or they may decide they like Richards and Bass. We will see how it goes. I can't blame them for drafting Mazi and Schoonmaker. They are a good drafting team.
Not according to their playoff record. Isn't that the goal, winning in the playoffs?

He's admitting he wishes we had more depth. This is distinctly different than admitting he didn't do enough
I didn't miss "distinctly". And it absolutely is not. It's pretty much the same thing, and definitely not polar opposite, as you are suggesting.

Yes, that is your claim. Now, I in an attempt to hold a normal discussion am asking you, what round would you spend the high draft pick for a back up OL?

And which lineman would you draft?

This is how conversations work.
No, it’s not a claim it’s what I said. Go read.

it doesn’t matter what I would have done. I don’t have a say. That’s the problem. If you want to know, the guy I wanted to draft was the Center the Giants took in the 2nd right before us. If I was trying to shore up our OL depth I would have done it before the draft And It didn’t need to be a big $ free agent. I’m a believer in taking care of your problems in free agency and then drafting BPA When possible. Heck, I said like 3 times in the last week I’d still sign Justin Pugh. Position flex and would be our best OT and OG off the bench. How much could he really expect at this point on a one year deal coming off his injury. Again the point is our depth is a bigger issue than most teams because of Tyron and going back to the draft and meat of free agency we didn’t even know for sure Steele was going to be ready

OMG are you kidding me? You are still counting adding an UDFA and a guy who is on the practice squad? They may workout but that isn’t expected at the time. We used a day 3 draft pick and a vet minimum (or near minimum) contract. That is absolutely almost nothing.

The decent FA Tree
Yup.

Jawaan Taylor, Mike McGlinchey, Ben Powers, Andre Dillard, Daniel Brunskill, LeRaven Clark, Isaac Seumalo, Orlando Brown, Cody Ford, Riley Reiff, Dan Feeney.

Those are just a few from the AFC this offseason, didn't even get to the NFC. There were a myriad of quality OLs in FA, both starters and backups.

Bass has looked really good. Don't you agree?

So, part of your plan is a guy we couldn't draft because he was drafted already, at a position we are set at to have a back up there?

Ok, Finally we are getting somewhere.

Justin Pugh, not sure If agree he'd be the best tackle unless he can play RT. If/when Tryon goes down Tyler Smith would be our best option at LT. At guard he could be a good back up, if he is a scheme fit, which I just don't know either way tbh

I don't think Pugh has fully been cleared to play. To do position drills yes but play, not sure I've seen that, but I may have missed it. Even if he has, it want til the summer time that he was, can't fault a team for not signing a player to be backup if not cleared to play yet, can you?

He is the type of Vet, that if signed, it's after week one so salary isn't guaranteed.

I don't think he has even visited any teams as of yet.

And to be fair, we did sign a back up LG in FA. I also think they had too much faith in Waletzko and Ball.

In this salary cap era with huge contracts still looming as we came into FA and Draft for Diggs, Steele, CD, Dak the team wasn't going to invest a lot in back up positions.

This is a league wide issue, not just a Cowboys issue. Injuries in TC have thwarted some of their best laid plans I think.

I told you who I wanted in the draft and it was Schmitz and I know he went before us in the 2nd because I told you that in my post. Personally I thought he was a bottom of the first round talent. As far as Pugh goes his best position is RT and yes he has been cleared to play.

So you are of the opinion that we should’ve gone after someone in FA that we didn’t - who would that have been? Who should we have taken in the draft and what round?

Absolutely. I really like Bass. But at the time he was a crap shoot.
It might not be a bad idea to play Bass and or Richards in the 1st game and bring Tyler Smith back in week 2. We will just have to see how it goes.
