Which, again, does not say he thought they would be better than if Dak had played, just that he thought they would be better in Dak's absence than they were.

But aside from how you want to interpret the words, use some logic. Why would he say say he gave Dak a huge contract and they have been playing Dak even though they felt Rush was a better QB and the team would perform better with Rush than with Dak?

A little logic and common sense goes a long way ...
