Oh Jerry, had you said this back in 2003 or so I'd have wholeheartedly agreed. But after all those years, F*** this approach and go all in!
He is a liar. No doubt about it.I take it back, this is the biggest pile of BS in that interview.
The Eagles won a SB in 2017 and did so loading up on vets, etc. They followed that up by giving a huge contract to Wentz and it didn't work out. Now according to Jerry, the smartest GM in football, when Wentz failed and all those vets from the 2017 Eagles team started weighing the team down and they had to tear it apart, it should have been a "long way back".
And yet, here are the Eagles back in the SB five years later (and they have two first round picks to boot). I wish people who interview Jerry would call his *** out when he pushes total lies and BS like this.
I can't tell if he's stupid or just a liar.
For any of you hoping for an active offseason.
15:25 mark of the video. Jerry is asked after watching the Rams and Eagles approach to the Super Bowl what is the Cowboys plan. He says he knows how to do what those teams have done but if you miss it's a long way back. He's reluctant to go all in for a year. He thinks long term.

As an added bonus you can go back to the 13:25 mark and hear how they didn't mismanage the WR position by trading Cooper for nothing. It was relying too much on Jalen Tolbert that was the mistake. How do you address it this year? "We need Tolbert to come on as a young player".
And lastly back to 17:35 you can hear Jerry's sales pitch to you for 2023 when asked how he gets fans excited for next year.
"Dwell on the fact that we have some of the best personnel in the NFL. Dwell on the fact that you have Dak. Focus on that."
-
And one more gem right after. The yearly man in the mirror talk.
"There's been a lot of change here over the last 25 years the same way there would have been had you changed GMs and Owners. I have to change in my mirror. I want to emphasize that."
Problem is Jerry aint gonna live long enough to see the long game play out..lol. Time is not on his side the dude is 80yrs old.So continue to play the long game jerry? Got it. Better buckle up for another 28 years.
Yep. Average life expectancy for males in the US is about 75. Reach for the ring Jerry.Problem is Jerry aint gonna live long enough to see the long game play out..lol. Time is not on his side the dude is 80yrs old.
Are you suggesting that in addition to not being good enough...we are also unlucky? The Rams and Eagles got very lucky in 2017 and last year. Somehow the Eagles were able to win it in 2017 with Nick Freaking Foles and beat a very very good Pats team to do that.
Last year the Rams were a Jaquarsky Tarte dropped int from falling short of the Super bowl and being in the doldrums they are in now.
The Eagles also lucked out this year, albeit with a more talented team this year than 2017, that they ended up playing no one in the playoffs and topped it by beating a team that couldn't forward pass.
If they fall short in the big game, they will have a hard time putting it all back together next year as they will have to let go of a lot of very good players.
There has to be someone in that organization with a respected voice who understands this. I just can't imagine everyone being on board with this foolishness. It's not sound at all. Their philosophy of relying on the draft and going cheap in FA simply isn't how you win Super Bowls in this league. You, at most, will hit on one player in the draft and you'll be lucky to get all those guys on a second contract.
It's a terrible philosophy that keeps you out of playoffs or has you losing early. The recent teams to win Super Bowls were aggressive in FA. Every single one.
What is evident is that he is incapable of doing what Howie Roseman is doing in Philly or John Lynch is doing in SF. He plays it off like he is making a choice, but in reality, it is the only choice he can make. He’s comparing his all in years when he waaay overspent or over-drafted certain players. Too many and too high of picks for one player. Too much money spent on certain players with injury history. Mismanagement in short. Also, when he’s doubled down on these stupid decisions it has cost the teams several years to rebuild. He does not want to say what is evident. Howie Roseman is several orders of magnitude better at managing NFL teams than Jerry Jones. The proof is playing out on national television.
It’s been working great for 28 years so might as well keep rolling with it. Right?Going all in would be mega-mega-mega stooooopid given current situ. I know lots of you are thinking with your hearts, but it makes zero sense.
Dak isn't an elite qb. Zeke is dead. Tyron Smith near the end end.
Truthfully a 1-year reset would be far better if you want a championship in the next few years. Clear the books, go 3-14 and draft a QB. The disappointment is that Jerry does just enough to keep things competitive and interesting, but only half measures. 1-year-rebuild is in order.
