Oh Jerry, had you said this back in 2003 or so I'd have wholeheartedly agreed. But after all those years, F*** this approach and go all in!

I take it back, this is the biggest pile of BS in that interview.

The Eagles won a SB in 2017 and did so loading up on vets, etc. They followed that up by giving a huge contract to Wentz and it didn't work out. Now according to Jerry, the smartest GM in football, when Wentz failed and all those vets from the 2017 Eagles team started weighing the team down and they had to tear it apart, it should have been a "long way back".

And yet, here are the Eagles back in the SB five years later (and they have two first round picks to boot). I wish people who interview Jerry would call his *** out when he pushes total lies and BS like this.

I can't tell if he's stupid or just a liar.
He is a liar. No doubt about it.

For any of you hoping for an active offseason.
15:25 mark of the video. Jerry is asked after watching the Rams and Eagles approach to the Super Bowl what is the Cowboys plan. He says he knows how to do what those teams have done but if you miss it's a long way back. He's reluctant to go all in for a year. He thinks long term.

-

As an added bonus you can go back to the 13:25 mark and hear how they didn't mismanage the WR position by trading Cooper for nothing. It was relying too much on Jalen Tolbert that was the mistake. How do you address it this year? "We need Tolbert to come on as a young player".

And lastly back to 17:35 you can hear Jerry's sales pitch to you for 2023 when asked how he gets fans excited for next year.

"Dwell on the fact that we have some of the best personnel in the NFL. Dwell on the fact that you have Dak. Focus on that."

-

And one more gem right after. The yearly man in the mirror talk.

"There's been a lot of change here over the last 25 years the same way there would have been had you changed GMs and Owners. I have to change in my mirror. I want to emphasize that."

Thanks for taking that bullet for the rest of us so we don’t have to waste time listening. Much appreciated.

Just keep them relevant and jerry is good. The problem is the "Cowboy Boomers" are getting long in the tooth and running out of patience.

Before long, unless its a home base team thing the fan base is going to go away. Just like the "Dark Jersey curse" "America's Team" will fade as well.

Yep. Average life expectancy for males in the US is about 75. Reach for the ring Jerry.

This is what I love about Jethro Jone$. He is totally honest with fans.

He tells them nothing is going to change and fans still come back with a renewed optimism and hope .

I don’t blame him for sticking to his guns . I blame the fans for not forcing the issue holding him accountable.

That's the thing which is stopping me from putting full faith into this front office that they'll be willing to change their ways enough to get the Cowboys to a NFC Championship game and to end the Super Bowl drought. Jerry Jones still wants to win things his way and his way only. So we not only have to put on trust in the Joneses ability to draft and find the next Cowboys QB. who will take this franchise forward and improvement it's position, instead of sending it backwards and having it regress. In the scenario of them eventually finding Dak's replacement, we have to rely on trusting his front office to give that new, rookie Cowboys QB the best ability and chance to succeed by getting aggressive in free agency and going all out to build an elite roster around him.

And even after the Eagles and Rams have proven that the best way to get into the Super Bowl is to get aggressive through free agency and even if they could find a way to free up more money by getting out of Dak's contract, I do not trust this front office to be willing to get aggressive in free agency and be willing to spend money on high quality and high caliber free agency players to give the next Cowboys rookie QB the best chance at succeeding. Because as I said they want to prove they can win things their way.

Even if that means putting the hypothicial Dak replacing, Cowboys rookie QB at an unfair advantage by having him compete against teams in the conference who has GMs and front offices willing to get aggressive and to go all out to give their young QBs the best chance at succeeding. While they expect this Cowboys rookie QB to compete against those teams/QBs, with cheap, bargain bin free agency players.

The Rams and Eagles got very lucky in 2017 and last year. Somehow the Eagles were able to win it in 2017 with Nick Freaking Foles and beat a very very good Pats team to do that.

Last year the Rams were a Jaquarsky Tarte dropped int from falling short of the Super bowl and being in the doldrums they are in now.

The Eagles also lucked out this year, albeit with a more talented team this year than 2017, that they ended up playing no one in the playoffs and topped it by beating a team that couldn't forward pass.

If they fall short in the big game, they will have a hard time putting it all back together next year as they will have to let go of a lot of very good players.
Are you suggesting that in addition to not being good enough...we are also unlucky?

My gosh are we doomed!!!!!!!!

It's not sound at all. Their philosophy of relying on the draft and going cheap in FA simply isn't how you win Super Bowls in this league. You, at most, will hit on one player in the draft and you'll be lucky to get all those guys on a second contract.

It's a terrible philosophy that keeps you out of playoffs or has you losing early. The recent teams to win Super Bowls were aggressive in FA. Every single one.
There has to be someone in that organization with a respected voice who understands this. I just can't imagine everyone being on board with this foolishness.

He’s comparing his all in years when he waaay overspent or over-drafted certain players. Too many and too high of picks for one player. Too much money spent on certain players with injury history. Mismanagement in short. Also, when he’s doubled down on these stupid decisions it has cost the teams several years to rebuild. He does not want to say what is evident. Howie Roseman is several orders of magnitude better at managing NFL teams than Jerry Jones. The proof is playing out on national television.
What is evident is that he is incapable of doing what Howie Roseman is doing in Philly or John Lynch is doing in SF. He plays it off like he is making a choice, but in reality, it is the only choice he can make.

Yesterday was a rough day for fans. The Jones Boys gave some interviews and each made statements that were hard to stomach. This franchise is in a deep deep trough.

Going all in would be mega-mega-mega stooooopid given current situ. I know lots of you are thinking with your hearts, but it makes zero sense.

Dak isn't an elite qb. Zeke is dead. Tyron Smith near the end end.

Truthfully a 1-year reset would be far better if you want a championship in the next few years. Clear the books, go 3-14 and draft a QB. The disappointment is that Jerry does just enough to keep things competitive and interesting, but only half measures. 1-year-rebuild is in order.
It’s been working great for 28 years so might as well keep rolling with it. Right?

I'd like to see the "all in" structured for a 2-3 year run.

To do that we prob need a rookie QB salary

So more seasons of bow out of play offs early, check. At least we now know why. With the Cap you have to be prepared to bet it all at mid season if you’re doing well.

Mainly though it is lack of OL and DL that has kept Dallas a mediocre team. All you got to do is look at the 90’s cowboys OL and DL and look at the years Brady won Superbowls. His wins always associated with massive Offensive line and depth. It is rare to have a Mahomes who can over come a diminished OL with his speed and awareness.

Hoss OL can make superstars out of mid level QB, RB and WR’s. 90’s OL elevated Aikman, Emmit annd Irvin above thier actual skills albeit they were exceptional in their own right. Of the 3, Irvin was probably the only generational elite imo.
