He didn't say "no".

Oh, I agree. Much as I'm near totally uninterested in soccer (which by the way is football to most of the world).

Please note he said as far as "Dallas" is concerned. He didn't say the Cowboys or The Dallas Cowboys.

I have been to Dallas many times, not every person who lives there is a Cowboys fan, so they probably care about as little for "American football" as I do about soccer.

Now if he had said the Cowboys, yeah I'd be po'd...

Well, also, I'm not sure why Jerry's comments are so offensive. The WC in 2026 isn't going to interrupt anything to do with the Cowboys. If anything, it might give the players something to do so that they don't get in trouble. Plus, it'd be cool to see, for example, Dak Prescott hanging out with someone like Harry Kane (England captain and Tottenham Striker for those who don't know). It'd bring international comradery to the Cowboys. That's a good thing.
The problem is the guy who should be focused on bringing a super bowl to Dallas is constantly focused on other things. You don’t see that as a problem?

Did they? That's cool! It's a fun game.
Yes it is an unofficial league usually supported by the international student bodies and not the universities. Cricket is a lot of fun to play and a very stylish game. It was my fav game before I was introduced to football. Now they both are equally fun to me. Though I played soccer in high school as well, football and cricket take precedence to soccer. Also I prefer squash to racket ball. Just amazing that the world plays a completely different set of games than what the US does.

Winning the bid for the Super Bowl will not have as much financial impact as winning the bid for the World Cup. The World Cup is 64 games the Superbowl is one game. That was a stupid question. Anybody with half a brain knows the answer to that one.

If it's during the season, yes. But I think he's quite capable during the offseason for a short period getting the stadium to host a WC. That isn't a problem to me. Besides, there are more hours in a day

I bet you've never been out of Arkansas and you speak mangled southern English.
Pity your small world view, Ruben.
I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. My uncle played semi pro football, which is called soccer in the U.S. It was the first team sport I ever learned to play.

I spent the first 12 years of my life in Europe, mostly Edinburgh and the island of Crete off the coast of Greece. Most likely, I've crossed more oceans than you have telephone poles.

Personally, I find the "world version" of football to be boring, redundant, uneventful, and overly simplistic. After coming to the U.S., the more i learned about American football, the more I realized just how overrated soccer was.

If I may be so bold, many Brits seem to believe that whatever they find amusing should be universally accepted as superior. I find it a rather tedious affliction. ....Oliver.

RBH ....... you do not understand. People are not mad about teh World cup playing at the stadium ........ they are mad that our GM was working on this during free agency ...... if Jerry wants to do this kinda stuff he should hire a full time GM that is always focused on the Dallas Cowboys.
You don't understand. County and city council members put together a bid of this magnitude. Jerry offered the stadium up to the council so they could make a bid. This is not one man's doings. The stadium isn't even in Dallas, so Tarrent County (Arlington) and Dallas County officials has to work together to make this happen. Jerry was probably there for their initial meeting only. And that was just to shake hands, take pictures, and show them the stadium.

Lolol. Yeah, bringing a World Cup to Dallas doesn’t take much time. Not to mention all of the other side gigs that idiot works on. Boxing events , f1 racing, etc..give it a rest

Hey, I want Jerry to hire a GM. As I've said, I haven't seen us get beyond the division round. That said, if he wants to have a WC at his stadium, I'm not going to complain about that.

A fan who doesn't understand that globally, the World Cup generates far more interest than the Super Bowl. Sounds about right.

Swell. Let JJ sell the Boys and use the money to buy a soccer team.

Yes, I have family in England. Also, I speak okay Spanish, some phrases and short sentences of German, some Italian words/phrases, and a couple of words of French including the word Surrender.

Wonderful.

Though before you link French and surrender, remember they were in WWII for 6 years. And fought or took part in 50 wars going back to 1100s.
Now, De Gaulle was the one who cut and fled to England for the war. Then, when all these American, Canadian and British kids were being buried, De Gaulle marched triumphantly through Paris. What a vulture, the sod master is.
Don't get me started...!

Perfect picture of those two slobs admiring a hot dog. Absolute joke, beverly hill billies running a billion dollar establishment.
I won’t disagree, but those Beverly hillbillies purchased a sad sack Cowboys franchise that Bum had driven on the verge of bankruptcy and made it into the billion dollar franchise it is. That is not what we football fans actually care about, but facts are facts.

Well, Sotland, I can understand your insecure world view.
I find it amusing that you use tha stereotype of Brits, but you will nevertheless bow to the crown, ruffian!:muttley:

I'm not a billionaire, but if it was me...I'd hire a marketing agency to handle all of that. Or appoint a director of marketing and give him a small team to work with. But that's just me. I mean how can I enjoy my private jets and my 200 foot yacht if I'm busy all the time. I'd tell those guys, if you can get it, get it. As long as it doesn't conflict with our home games go for it.

They. How many people are involved in this they you speak of? You got 32 teams coming to town so you need enough hotels to house these teams. You need enough restaurants so the guys don't have to eat in the same place everyday. You need other events to promote the World Cup. Can these soccer players get free tickets to the Mavs or Rangers games as a promotion for the WC? And every hotel has to be less than a hours drive from the stadium. Don't want the players to tired and sleepy on the drive over. Then what about police escorts for the buses. Do they have enough busses in the area to handle this event? What about entertainment for the players. Don't want those guys sitting around at the hotels bored as hell. So when Jerry says we've been working on this for months, how many people is in that we? All the board of directors needed to know is can they use AT&T Stadium. And when can they show the organizers the stadium. So all they needed was a yes from Jerry and a quick tour. So other people had been working on it for months and Jerry just used to word we? Because he was part of the in crowd but he was more of a pawn in this one.
A yes, a tour and two luncheons is about as far as Jerry went on this one.

So hopefully they can springboard this into hosting the Olympics one day.

Jerry handled the situation with diplomacy. So, if he says, "Football," then he alienates Soccer people and those business associates.
Not the best.
And, I disagree with the notion that him saying that distracts from pursuing a Super Bowl.
I can't imagine any of the other owners focused solely on football 24/7/365.

He HAS hired a GM to fill in.
That's what most here don't get.
It's just that the position is manned by multiple personnel and he trusts them to make that final decision.
Not the greatest place to be for us, but this is how he operates.
Multiple people are aspects of the GM position.

He can go do all sorts of business ventures and personal ventures and whatnot because he believes he's got guys that cover for him in place and he trusts them.

All he wants is Final Decision so that he gets Final Credit.

And failure is no big deal. It's not like anybody is gonna fire the guy.

Hate to say it but the World Cup is a bigger deal than the Super Bowl if you’re looking at it from a global perspective. I think that’s where this comes from. Just from an AT&T stadium rental question. Would Jerry Jones rather have his team win the Super Bowl? Of course. I’m frustrated with the guy too but come on, enough of the nonsense…
