Tied down to a chair with a ball gag or in a medically (or JW) induced coma. Because nothing else explains the complete 180 in his FA and player retention philosophy. Prudence is smart but going from one extreme to another is a completely different story.

Still in the early phases of FA. Cowboys will be active just not getting into the early feeding frenzy where most are being over paid.

Or he's been burned so many times in the onset of FA and overpaying that he's just not going to do it anymore. Stephen said it best last week on SiriusXM NFL Radio when he basically said that scooping up players in the frenzy of the beginning of FA forces you to pay good players like they're great players. That is EXACTLY what has transpired over the first 24 hours of FA.

I think he has finally learned there is more to just over paying your talent. There is always room for improvement and development through the draft. Young and hungry teams win, not old and paid.

Have any of the real contenders made any rash moves? The Patriots just let Revis go get paid elsewhere! There
is a formula for winning football and the Cowboys F.O just caught on.

Cowboys are blowing FA big time. Haven't done squat. How are we going to get to a super bowl with a weak defense?

I wonder if it's a sign that Stephen is taking over more control or at least being more of an influence.

It's what, 50 days until the draft? Guys like Murray, Hardy, etc can afford to wait and hear out all offers

Probably killing him more than we know not to be signing some big names. But wherever he is and under whatever restraints he has against those urges the better off the Cowboys will be.

Here is where we, as fans, have a distinct advantage over the team management. We can sit here and run our mouths about who should be signed. We'll use Murray as the example. Lets say Dallas caves and gives Murray enough cash to make him happy. And just by chance, let's pretend he gets injured next year and is never himself ever again. Many, not all but many, of the people on here wanting to sign Murray now....will be saying later that Jerry was stupid for signing Demarco Murray and look at the money we have tied up in a guy that was prone to injuries. That's how it works on message boards.

I'm only bummed about losing one of our better LB's right now between either Carter or Durant...

Been a lot of worrying here the last two days.

My thought is the Cowboys are starting to run the organization in many ways like the Packers and that's not a bad thing.

I am not holding the Packers up as the shining example of a model NFL franchise, however, they almost comically NEVER participate in the first 2-3 weeks of free agency and only then pick from the bargain bin. They almost exclusively rely on the draft and UDFAs as well as the system they have place on their success and for the most part it works. They are in the playoffs every year and every two or three years they make a run at a NFC Championship game and occasionally even a Superbowl.

So in summary -- Jerry Jones is starting to run the organization like Ted Thompson.

It's not a popular or exciting approach for this time of year. Packers fans have a endless selection of jokes all about how Ted Thompson and how he disdains Free Agency, however, in the end, if properly executed the approach can work.

Just my $0.02.

I disagree, you can't predict or count on injuries.. that's kind of the true exception to the rule.

He don't seem to want to pay anyone recently.. I think he's

Yes, it is actually. Revis last year got the Pats another ring.

Revis was a piece of a team that had been to Super Bowls. He was not the reason they won the Super Bowl. And that's 1 player. Give me a break.

Then quit going to the extreme.

Well you can disagree and I will count you as the exception. But there would be plenty of fans that would be like this.

HAHAHAHA. if this post was not so sad, it would be funny.

I tend to think keeping Dez Bryant, Doug Free, and Cole Beasley is a good idea.

If you think it's comical, continue whining like a newborn like you've been doing for two days.

I have a thread asking for Zoners to tell us exactly who they would have signed so far for the prices they are going for....
maybe you could be an active participant instead of crying all day.
