That’s my opinion. Yes.

Tyron Smith’s injury was a much bigger factor than Zeke being out at that time. Yes
So, our offense runs thru Smith not Elliott in your opinion? First I’ve heard presented as such.

Jones tried his best not to act disappointed in Elliott’s absence, but he couldn’t hide it when reminded of his unwavering support of Elliott before and after the league suspended the running back for six games in 2017.

Elliott and Jones separately waged battles with the NFL, with Elliott eventually serving his suspension and Jones paying a $2 million de facto fine to the league for legal fees.

That's going to bat. Jerry didn't have to do a dam thing, nevermind shell out 2 mill. Some people will defend anything. LOL Zeke's a dumazz and Jerry fought for him. No not every team would do the same. I'm no fan of Jones, but he does treat his players well. This goes above and beyond.

Exactly right, and a few weeks ago, Elliott, his agent, and this entire organization were holding their collective breath, hoping he would avoid yet another suspension. And now, just after they've dodged that bullet, they feel it's the right time to withhold services and demand a raise? That takes some balls. A total lack of brains, but some balls.

Let him stay in Cabo.

Bring in Jay Ajayi, a young running back just looking for his opportunity. He'd sign a cheap one year deal to run in this offense. Or Duke Johnson? Trade for him and he'd be the happiest guy in the world to get his chance here.

And then Elliott and his agent can worry about where else they're going to find that next meal ticket, or support for his next, inevitable screwup?

I'm talking business. The team/franchise comes first in my book. Nothing personal. Sorry if it irks anyone.
Of course. And it’s the business of our franchise to meet the demands of our players so they’re on the field.

And if they drafted or pursued a problem talent they can’t manage then it’s on them for bringing in someone that’s unmanageable.

My bigger concern is the effects on our team if he isn’t on the field. Which is the bottom line .

Now this I agree with.

It’s great to have an elite talent at RB. Is Zeke that? I’m not sure.

Do I like Zeke the player? Absolutely.

Is he worth the contract he is wanting? Absolutely not in my opinion
Obviously our FO says he worth it as the Gurley contract is the starting point in negotiations.

I think we just have some Homers who buck any Cowboy who go against the norm or critic any aspect.

I really don't think Zeke cares about this. He thinks he can force a trade if it comes to that, and his new team won't make that trade unless they get a contract done.

I think he's overestimating his value in the league. Teams with far more proficient passing games don't value his position nearly as much as won't use him to these levels.

To say nothing of the risk that comes with his off field antics. No GM who values his job wants to risk it by:
  1. Paying the draft cost to acquire Elliott
  2. Making him the highest paid running back in the game
  3. Losing sleep worrying about when that next incident and suspension is going to occur
It's one thing for a GM like ours - who is also the owner - to take risks like that. Our guy will never get fired. I don't know of anyone else in that same position?

Elliott has little, if any trade value, and I don't see anyone rushing to pay him what he's looking for. Le'Veon Bell struggled to even find a market and he was an unrestricted free agent. That's where the running back market is.

Both players while very good are not elite.

How many times has Elliott hit 1800 yards in the NFL?

So Murray is "elite" while Elliott isn't then?

He will be signed soon and this will all be moot.

And many believed there was no chance of a holdout at all too.

Murray had 1 good season his entire career...1. Dmac was an overrated first round pick who coudn't handle a full bell cow workload anytime he was given the chance. Zeke is a bell cow is arguably the best RB in the league right now and this offense and line was built for a back just like him.

Murray had that year because of this offensive line. The same reason that McFadden did after him. And Zeke after them. You can try to ignore the facts and the pattern if you'd like, but everyone else can see it.

Everyone is way too worked up about the Zeke situation. He has no leverage, really; if he wants to accrue this season, he has to report eventually. He's just avoiding a boring and tedious training camp. He'll be there before long and all will be forgotten.

And if he were silly enough to hold out through the actual season, the Giants are going to be so bad that would be an easy win without him, making him look worse.

I'm calling his bluff. And amping up the pressure and my displeasure the longer this goes. It's within the team's rights to fine him, and I'll start doing that. Then I'll bring in a guy like Ajayi for a workout. And then I'll call up the Browns about Duke Johnson, and make sure everyone knows it.

And then I'll let this clown worry about where he's going to find his next opportunity like this one.

My bigger concern is the effects on our team if they allow Zeke to sit on his fat rear end in cabo and get by with blackmailing the Cowboys for whatever he wants whenever he wants it, while his team mates are back in training camp doing their jobs!
Who's next? We have numerous good players looking for a contract. You think they should head for Cabo too?

We signed Alfred Morris. I’m sure that will bring Elliott running back to save his job. Lol

Never know who’s next. But I’d bet no one else has the talent level or the leverage who’s absence would impact the team as much.

Amazing that fans came to Elliott’s defense in the Domestic Violence case.

Yea, we’ll defend him slapping around women but don’t dare hold out on your contract. Simply amazing .. lol

Well unfortunately you can't back your opinion up. I'll tow the road which is obvious and great players like Irvin are saying this offense runs through Zeke, was built to run, and will be in trouble if he doesn't sign.
Can’t back it up? The 2016 O line was arguably the best in the NFL. The past two years it’s been top 5-10. That’s not opinion.

Lol, ask Irvin how many league leading rushers have won a Super Bowl in the past 20 years. This offense was built to run behind an incompetent OC which we no longer have.

How do you know Jay Ajayi will sign a cheap one year deal?

Besides Jay Ajayi is a locker room malcontent with questionable knees who's been dumped by two organizations already.

How much choice does he have? Training camp has started and he doesn't have a team yet. And he's also coming off of an ACL injury which requires him to "prove" that he's healthy.

But if you think he's in position to demand big money, I'm open to hearing your argument?

Besides Jay Ajayi is a locker room malcontent with questionable knees who's been dumped by two organizations already.

He was traded away from the Dolphins to the Eagles because he clashed with Adam Gase. But he excelled at both places. And his contract expired after he injured his other knee and he's now a free agent.

I'm not looking at him as a bellcow running back or the lone "answer", just a proven player who can get me through the season as part of a committee. Just like he did for the Eagles when they won their Super Bowl.
