That would be the ideal situation.

But I’m not as certain we don’t have the Cap to sustain.

If that’s true why did Stephen say they already offered or the starting point was Gurley type contract ?
optics maybe? I dunno...Stevie may be playing both sides.

The Fan reported that Jerry was completed caught off guard by the Zeke holdout and is severely ticked off.

They pointed to the amount of support the team had given settle in numerous off-field issues, including perhaps some we don't know about.

This could get pretty ugly.
Zeke needs to get himself to camp. I hope they pay everybody who is at camp, then let Zeke know there’s nothing leftover. Reward the guys who showed up!

Check your sources and info more carefully next time:

“As noted by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, failure to report by August 6 results in Elliott forfeiting a year of credit toward free agency.

Robinson notes that Elliott is aware of the deadline, which is good because sometimes neither the player nor his agent are aware of the consequences of a player under contract staying away beyond the start of the 30-day countdown to the start of the regular season. (We first became aware of the rule more than a decade ago, regarding a player who quickly ended his holdout after his agent read our article.)”
I really don't think Zeke cares about this. He thinks he can force a trade if it comes to that, and his new team won't make that trade unless they get a contract done.

I think he's overestimating his value in the league. Teams with far more proficient passing games don't value his position nearly as much as won't use him to these levels.

I truly hope this ends up with us making a trade for a good (doesn't need to be great) running back...and where Zeke can hole up in a hotel room and do whatever he do. He's a worthless POS. I can't cheer on such garbage even if he is .009% percent better than league average.

The QB and o-line and receivers will determine our faith. That, and a top 5 defense.

I'm a far more enthusiastic fan of this team...sans Z Elliott.

And this: Dak's friendship with the guy is near termination.

So , it’s your opinion our record would have been the same with Elliott? And he wouldn’t have provided a greater opportunity to win?

DHB... Your sig image...could you pls downscale it 80% or remove it? Might be a nice image but when it appears HUGE in 6 posts per page...it annoys. If not, I'll have to block you and miss out on your posts, which would suck. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sad that the NFL rushing leader and the supposed best RB in football can’t get one endorsement. Wonder why? Hmmmmmm, he should be the face of the franchise. The fact that he’s not proves how dumb he is and how much of a head case he is.
I disagree, I think it’s because his head and ego are too big to fit on the Jerry World screen.

Frankly this hold-out--and related incidents-- will likely turn out for the best for the Cowboys and their fans.

We could end up getting Zeke's salary voided (money for other signings) and avoid what could have been a terrible long-term contract. All this Zeke crap is forced to Jerry's nostrils, where he has no choice but to smell it for what it is.

The players you mentioned all won rings. No one on the current roster has come close.

As for current management, Jerry is too busy trying to befriend players and his personal feelings get involved. He loses objectivity and players take advantage of it.

Players knew there was a line with Landry and Jimmy. There's no line in Dallas these days because the HC is neutered by Jerry and Jerry...see above.

Emmitt literally drew a line in the sand and after opening 1993 with two loses we quickly erased it and made him the highest paid RB in the league.. they culture has changed. Not how the Cowboys FO deals with it.

The issue is Elliott has no leverage, which means this is just spiteful.
Hmm..somehow the man who has no leverage just leveraged himself into a contract offer from the cowboys...

Funny how having no leverage works isn’t it?

He has not thought about any of those details.

His agent orchestrated the holdout.
