Bottom Line ......... When the owners start honoring contracts ....... I will expect the players to do it.

When they release people still under contract they claim its just business ....... turn about is fair play.

Been preaching that this whole time. Not one single player gives a crap when these billionaire owners want these players to take less money or cut them mid contract. They praise these greedy owners for doing good business. When a player does it, he is scum and a terrible person. Look at some of the vile, disgusting statements made towards Zeke this last week. It's pathetic.

I wish nothing but misery for our terrible owner. He's an egotistical maniac who doesn't care about winning unless he can get 100% credit. And we fans suffer. He doesn't give a crap about us. He is worth billions and makes more in one year than everyone on this site will see in our lifetimes.

He took a storied franchise and ran it into the ground and became a punchline for over 2 decades. His ego could not take Jimmy getting credit so he fired him after winning 2 Super Bowls. Screw Jerry and Stephen, too.

I am indeed, to the tune of $400 of we don’t win the Super Bowl and we’ll be much better off for it in the future.

Future? What future? We haven't accomplished anything in 2 plus decades. Dallas is the epitome of "Wait until next year!!". Until it isn't then it's the next year.

Our defense is relatively young, we have the O line locked down for awhile, we have a lot of pieces in place to be good for a few years and don’t need to blow our wad on an expendable running back who has been nothing but a headache since day 1 and is one dumb move away from being suspended. Trade him, next years draft is loaded with RB’s.

What do you really expect to get for him? You rarely get back big hauls in the NFL trading market. We will never ever see another Herschel Walker type trade. Zeke means everything to this offense. The goal is to win now. You go all out and win now. Like the Rams and Eagles did. Both got to Super Bowls. This isn't the MLB where it can take half a decade to build a team. Eagles went from last to first. Rams did the same. You don't sacrifice an elite player for draft picks on a RB who may or may not be good in the draft. We know right now what Zeke is. We picked him 4th overall. To trade him would be irresponsible and a waste of a pick and shows this team has no real direction.

Zeke is eventually going to get paid. So is Dak and Amari. What does it really matter when it is? You can always make the money work. Always. Eagles and Rams proved that.

I'm calling his bluff. And amping up the pressure and my displeasure the longer this goes. It's within the team's rights to fine him, and I'll start doing that. Then I'll bring in a guy like Ajayi for a workout. And then I'll call up the Browns about Duke Johnson, and make sure everyone knows it.

And then I'll let this clown worry about where he's going to find his next opportunity like this one.
That’ll show him

Not sure why it's taking so long, but Jerry will pay Zeke Gurley money plus a little more. He will RESET the market for running backs. It won't cause a trend of other players holding out because Zeke is a unique talent. Jerry would probably tell any other player to pound sand, but he knows he needs Zeke in order to have a chance at another Super Bowl.

Yeah, and who did the Rams and Eagles have for a RB? I’m sure the Rams fans were crying that their season was over when Gurley went down and who carried them to the Super Bowl and ran all over us? A guy by the name of CJ Anderson who basically became a journeyman and was released by the Panthers, signed by the Raiders then waived by the Raiders a week later and finally picked up by the Rams a week after that.

What about the Eagles? Who was their running back? Was it a leading rusher? Nope. It was a guy they traded for a 4th round pick. Neither team needed an overpaid schmuck like Zeke to get to the Super Bowl.

When was the last time a leading rusher won a Super Bowl? I’ll give you a hint, it hasn’t happened in this century. If Moore is even a half way decent OC, we shouldn’t need to be so reliant on Zeke. Remember the Giants game? We spread the ball around more and kept the defense guessing. As a result we had one of our best offensive performances of the year while the knucklehead diva was standing on the sideline probably thinking of how much money he planned on sitting out for this year.

I think we could get a late first rounder for Zeke and draft another RB next year, we’ll still have a great O line for a few more years barring any major injuries.

I like how you completely ignore the cap as if money will never be an issue. Do you have any recollection of the the salary cap hell we were recently in? Remember not being able to afford needed FA’s or even paying our own guys? If we hadn’t drafted well we would still be suffering from those years.

Unfortunately, you’re probably right, Zeke will eventually get paid and you better hope it pays off within the next couple of years because eventually we won’t have the money to pay our defense. There’s no doubt the Cowboys are better with Zeke but that doesn’t mean he’s worth it and that we can’t succeed without him.

You cannot be serious.
I was thinking the same thing about you.

That's why there's a guarantee. That is always paid. It is part of the contract. A player often trades a lower guarantee for a higher total amount, even though the last year or two is generally written as a team option, which means they can release the player w/o paying the non-guaranteed salary part that is left.

Typical contract stuff.

If Zeke went to the Cowboys and requested a 5 year 55 mil deal, all guaranteed, they'd break a finger signing it. Instead, the player opts for a contract w/ a lot more money in it, even though the last year or two will generally be voided.

Releasing or cutting a player doesn't mean the team isn't honoring the contract. It means they are ending the contract at some point that the contract allows. You can't say the team isn't honoring the contract just because they are exercising an option which the contract allows.

If you pay off your car early, are you "not honoring" the contract you signed with the finance company?

Teams do honor their contracts to a T.

The funniest part about the "honor thy contract" crowd is I don't recall anyone here clamoring for Earl Thomas to honor his contract with Seattle during his hold out. The popular reaction was quite the opposite, hoping it would force a trade that never happened.

It's hypocrisy. They don't care about honoring contracts. They'll hop on whichever side of the issue they think will get them the player they want. That's fine - it's what fans do - but at least be honest about it.
