"Emmitt Smith is a luxury, not a necessity." - Emmitt Smith holdout.

"We had a very similar back [to Murray]. As we sit here today, I feel very good about where we are at running back." - On starting "Klepto" Joseph Randle

Jerry consistently overvalues WR and under alues RB. If the Cowboys want a Super Bowl, they must have Zeke, baggage and all.

Once again, ignoring the fact that 2015 featured 13 games started by QBs named Cassel, Weeden, and Moore yet the Cowboys were still a top 10 rushing team.

Losing Murray wasn't the problem. Losing Romo was the problem.

As for the Super Bowl, Emmitt Smith had already won one. Zeke hasn't even sniffed one.

Sure looks like it when you have to bring up one fumble.

That’s too bad. The league has spoken about what they’re willing to pay the position. If he doesn’t like it, he can find another line of work.
Agree with the second the pay has been set and he has two years left. Why I think this is some sort of collusion. There was no hint of any potential hold out until Gordon made it official. Timing is terrible and he is under contract. I agree he is well under paid and has surpassed his rookie deal but JJ would have taken care of him in the end. I think Zeke is great and the guy this offense flows through but his decision on holding out is not one I support. I support the kid on the field where he should be letting his agent figure this out.

Shouldn't matter...The Cowboys as well as the NFL has to stop this walking out when you have a contract. Zeke is under
contract for the next two years period. Fines should be applied as well as lost checks if he holds out.
Agree but the NFL did set this up with very little guaranteed salaries.

Seems like it happened to Lev Bell. Lost a year's wages to come back and take a deal that was equal or marginally better than what he could have had. Right?

Cowboys can do whatever they want. If things get to that point, yes they would probably trade him but if they got stubborn they could end his career. Or they could trade him to an undesirable team which would also in many ways end his career.

Point being, he should take whatever pay increase \ guaranteed monies he can get without going down a road that turns ugly.
I don't think Bell lost his entire year's salary but I get your point.

Would not have lost Romo if the running game hadn't been a complete joke from the start. After the 1st quarter Randle averaged less than a yard. Early in the season defenses rushed Romo on every down, they had nothing to fear from the running game. This led to Romo getting beat up and eventually injured.

I just see guys trying to get paid while they can. But different situations between Gordon and Elliott.

I agree with you, this was an ill-advised move against a family and team that has been nothing other than exceedingly supportive and patient of this player. a terrible way to repay them.

Maybe Jerry's so upset he’ll let Elliott sit and see how the season unfolds before scampering out of the press box to save the season and his new 30 million dollar QB?
You mean $34 million QB. Dak wants more than most elite QBs. And Jerry will probably pay him.

Sure the guarantees are low because the NFL is a violent sport with loads of injuries. The fact is that pro football is a volunteer sport and
no one is forced to play it for a living. Very few people get fully guaranteed salaries.

We hope Stephen can coax Jerry out of his Johnny Walker Blue haze to realize it's bad business.

He should be. Jerry stood by him and went to bat for him, then this. Elliott just isn't very sharp or is getting bad advice from his agent. Having Jerry in his corner Zeke would've been well taken care of at some point.
This x100

Jerry literally risked his imagine and reputation defending him (not once but twice) all while paying Elliott top 3 in the league for his position in fully guaranteed money

I would 100% be pissed if I was Jerry

I could care more about if Jerry is pissed but I don't. Until he hires a real GM and coach, he can be pissed or cry all he wants and it will not bother me.

I would be po’d if I was Jerry but I also don’t have much sympathy for him.

Jerry continues to pursue these guys with character issues, all the warning signs and red flags were there for Zeke but Jerry thought he could tame another diva jerk with issues.

Was Ware not caught by surprise when you cut him?
Was Dez not caught by surprise when you cut him?
Was Owens not caught by surprise when you cut him?
Was Tom freaking Landry not surprised when you fired him?

If it was business before ..... its business now ....... don't cry about money when you are setting on your billion dollar yacht you POS.
I'm so glad there are still people around these parts that don't take this stuff too seriously...
Wait.

I don’t understand how the amount of money Jerry has, has anything to do with salaries. If there wasn’t a salary cap then I’d get it but not wanting to over pay for a player to keep a half way decent roster together is different. It’s not like Jerry is pinching pennies out of his personal bank account by not signing players to ridiculous contracts.
