It's not our job to know it. Even if the opinions on SP are hindsight, that makes them no less valid.ddh33;1311839 said:And every one here knew it all along, right?

coaching? (Payton)
or
players? (Brees, Bush, Colston, etc)
or
both?

I'd wager that their record wouldn't be what it is this season. Their quality players are helping to create the buzz, not some "soopur seekrit" coaching skills that were somehow squelched last year.
burmafrd;1311711 said:NO one thought that Payton would be THIS good.
MarkBrunell;1311804 said:Give him credit. Hes the one who drafted gems like Marques Colston and Jahri Evans.
and its not like Drew Brees was some passing monster before he came to NO. He was coming of an injured shoulder and he was a decent starter,
Maybe Paytons excellent offensive schemes glorified Drew Brees. He was never this good in his 5 years with San Diego.

superpunk;1312539 said:Why can't Todd Bowles be a young success? Why can't Todd Haley? That's what you want, or that's what you say - why do you seem so opposed to promoting these young guys and having them move up in our organization?
People hated the idea of the coach of our worst unit having a larger hand in our offense this year. They hated washed-up Chris Palmer coming from the Texans. Sparano and palmer were passed off as puppets, who Parcells wouldn't listen to - instead running his same conservative offense no matter what.
That was all crap. ALL of it.
I'm confident that next year I'm gonna be saying the same thing about the; "It doesn't matter who the coordinator is, Parcells is a dictator who doesn't listen to anybody", "promote Bowles? Our secondary was awful!" etc. This is providing Parcells comes back and they actually get promoted. I'm excited for more hands and more ideas getting put on the field. I was thrilled with what it did for our offense, I think it will be the same on defense.
iceberg;1312547 said:from a strict "why not"? point, you're right. we've seen a parcells student do well in NO so maybe bowels can succeed as well. i mean, he's our secondary coach and he's shown there he can get the job done, right?
i want a bit more on the success side of the resume.
for grins, compare bowels to the ravens ryan and let's see how they stack up to you.
superpunk;1312563 said:What happened to not needing "name" coaches?
Using what criteria? how they performed under Mike Zimmer? There's no way to compare them. Bill produces good coaches, and he doesn't do it by stifling them, no matter how much that is thumped out there. I'm ready for young Bowles to get a shot - instead of yearning for a DC to come in who is used to working with a completely different kind of personnel. A guy in house familiar is my preference.
