Jerry Jones: Dak Will be Surrounded by a Better Team

Jerry invested $160M into signing Dak and just watched Cooper Rush assist the team to a 4-1 record during Dak's injury....and Jerry also encouraged a QB controversy so this isn't about people's Dak narratives but rather the owner himself looking directly at Dak and asking him to show he was worth the contract.
Believe what you will. I think it’s more hype from our snake oil salesman.

Yes they "cherry picked" his medical clearance for this game.

They could have easily let Cooper Rush have this game and give him one more week to heal and practice. The man hasn't thrown a football in 6 weeks.

"We're a better team than we were five weeks ago," Jones told 105.3 "The Fan" on Tuesday morning. "We have improved the right way. We've done it with repetition, we've done it with young players. We've done it with players that have worked in tot he kind of things the coaches want them to do. We've had a lot of depth that has gotten a lot of reps. We're a better team than we were in that lost against Tampa, period."

Jerry just applied the pressure for Dak to elevate this team whether he intended to do that or not. With the defense playing as well as it has been and the offensive line playing better than expected, all eyes will be on Dak going forward.
He must have been talking specifically about Rush, rather than the team.

Dak will likely feel some pressure as he kicks the rust off but as long as the defense plays the way it’s been playing and the OL does he’ll likely feel less pressure bc hell feel like he has more help now.

If they don’t, then we’ll likely get a few games of 300+ / 3 / 1 where we lose 33-30 and the birds blame it on Dak.

Prescott played poorly in week 1 as well. Most teams didn’t play their starters in preseason. Not really an excuse .

Tampa is also best defense we played until Egirls. I’m not sure we beat Tampa in any scenario.
You just made my point. Dak did play poorly Week 1, as did the Oline and WRs. Clearly, they should have played various times during the preseason to knock off the rust. That's what them preseason games are for. It shouldn't matter what most other teams do. It's plain dumb to sit out your starters all preseason, and we all saw the results to start the regular season.

The defense is better. I don't see the offense improving much.

But, the cowboys cherry picked this game to roll him back out and he has to win this game. On paper, this is the worst team we have played and possibly the worst team in the NFL. If ever there was a no excuses game, this is it.
I definitely wouldnt argue Lions are worst team. They have had good offensive production . Ranked #2 overall. Lost a couple close ones .

But if everyone is resting their starters then everyone is rusty. That’s not a sound argument .

I personally don't think this is going to be an easy game. Prescott hasn't practiced in 6 weeks and the Lions are coming off a bye week. So, they've had plenty of time to heal and tweak things for this game.

I don't care about what argument you want to make or whether it's sound or not. If you played the game, you know playing some during the preseason is better than not in order to get yourself ready for the regular season. Football 101.

I really wish Jerry would stay quiet. Like say nothing. Stay out of the public eye. Like be invisible almost.

It shouldn’t be an easy game . Lions are much better coached now . They’ve lost a couple heart breakers against Egirls and Viqueens.

Talk about trying to squeeze water from a stone with that hope. Jerry is PT Barnum and the Cowboys are his circus....he always needs the spotlight on him.

Of course . But the point remains that everyone is beginning with same disadvantage.

Jerry is right, they are a better team.

The OL playing much better. The WR's not looking as bad as what many thought. Though I wish they can get more YAC. Seems the get tackled pretty quickly.
Running game is improving. I think they are still trying to find the right mix with Zeke and Tony. But Zeke has played hard and looked pretty good the last 2 games. Pollard getting some longer runs in.

Defense will just get better. Need to get more turnovers like last season. Still work on the run defense some.
The way the two rookie TE's have been playing lately, I would hope they factor into the offense a bit more

Dak has yet to play with them so hopefully the transition will be a smooth one as both of them are showing early promise with their play.

The fact Gallup is back should help Prescott. Definitely another downfield target.

He has a little more weapons than in Game 1. And OL is gelling better. Rushing game is solid as well.

There’s enough for him to have some success moving the ball.

And while Detroit has #2 offense they are dead last on defense ranked #32.
