It's one of the two. Running game or passing game that opens the other up. I'm having a hard time believing with Weeds as qb, passing will be the go to game plan. So RBBC please stand up. Also, whether it's Randle, DMC, or Michael, We need to do better! Keep the leash short and if doesn't work try a different approach. Yes I left Dunbar out. He's more of a slash player. And atm he's more of a reciever.

Re watching the Eagle game our Oline struggled with a lot of uncharacteristic penalties which means to me they are struggling physically and mentally. Their run game depends a lot on their timing and they are also out of sync right now. Good news is that this is a great bunch of players who have proven themselves and it can be fixed. They just need to find their groove and I think Callahan was a good resource for that last year and hope we can find it this year.
I know one thing. The run game is only as good as the pass game and vice versa. That is where Romo played as the wildcard if one side struggled. Hope Weeden plays well early and we see that run game this weekend. If so we're good to go.

We didn't run all over Philly last year. In fact, the numbers from both games last year are almost identical to this years results.

Granted. But we pretty much ran all over everyone else including having success up in Seattle. I cant see that happening this year, can you?

It's just been schemes and injuries and rust.

Just look at the preseason, the lack of cohesion, Free's surgery, Martin's injury, and now Leary's injury. They are just not 100% yet, and Martin may be affected more than the team would want to reveal. They certainly have not appeared to be successful strong right, by choice.

The physicality of pass blocking may also be preferable over that required for run blocking, considering any injury limitations.

We and the opposition are not going to be privy to all of the details of game day strategy and tactics.

Im rolling with that one. We can only hope its rust and a lack of continuity.

It's a shame we can't count those dump passes to RB's as running attempts because that is really what they are this year.

Hope so, but no, I wouldn't bank on it....especially with no Bryant or Romo.

Someone went back and looked at the defensive formations we faced throughout last year.
Surprisingly, we continued to face defenses that played us as if they feared the pass more than run. We almost never faced loaded boxes.
I suspect that may change for next 7-8 weeks.

I understand that is why I continue to say I hope. We do know last year 8 games in a row of over 100 yards and a 5.7 yards per carry out of Murray during that span.

You say that but you keep stating facts that implies the opposite. SMH

I really think Dunbar could have some pretty big games recieving out of the backfield with Weeden at QB. We know that they're going to call lots of easy dump offs/check downs for Weeden to try and avoid turnovers, so I could see Dunbar getting a lot of targets.

Yah, last year, those first 8 games, they were always playing the pass. A big reason why Murray rushed for 8 straight 100 yards games. You can see more in the 2nd half of the season last year that people started game planning to stop the run and Murray's YPC went down. If people want to stop the run and stack, most can do it if they commit enough people. Which everyone will certainly do now.

Not sure why one would think our run game should improve now with Romo AND Dez out and Witten gimpy. And then Weeden as the QB. Defenses are going to overplay the run and make Weeden beat them. So the key will be the short passing game as I said in another thread. We all know Weeden implodes when faced with pressure defenses.

Our defense will be the key along with a simple and short passing game on offense. Get ready to try to win ugly like back in the Parcell days. Last second FGs to win or lose.

Yes I am stating facts. I'm not happy with the run game. My hope is someone steps up and prove it. I listed all off season about how this was plug and play and behind this OL anyone should be able to do well and that is not happening. Some one be it Randle, McFadden or Michaels needs to kick it in gear. Talk about meat on the bone. I want nothing more than to come here after this next game and praise our run game but that falls to them. As a fan I can hope but hope comes cheap.

True, Weeden will have to give defense a reason to back off. Personally I think Weeden is capable we will see what takes place sunday

Atlanta has a good run defense so far this year.

Yes they do but it seems like they are pretty bad at covering the RBs in the open field. If Cowboys can't run the football between the tackles, they will sure be able to do damage on wheel or flat routes.

There's nothing special about the defenses in Atlanta, New Orleans, New England, or Giants. Weeden should be able to move this offense well enough for the next four games.

The defense needs to focus on holding teams to under 20, and the offense needs to focus on trying to score 21 a game and protect the ball.

I prefer holding them to 19 and scoring 20

I don't Dallas faced good run stopping teams last year Murray had over 100 vs the seahawks both games vs NYG over 100 yards and even with Romo out vs Arz he had 79 yards on 19 carries.
I'm not ruing the loss of Murray but you bet right now I'm not thilled with the running game and expect more from our plug and play RB. After all I have been told it is an easy position anyone can do it. yet right now none of the RB are even 4.0 a carry. Dallas needs to get this figured out and get this run game moving.

I am and will until we have a back that can step up.

I hated losing him but I come to accept the fact in his day and age your not going to keep everyone. I hated we were unable to address it in the draft. Cowboys made the choice to roll the dice on the guys we have and if they fail that is on the organization. As a fan all I can do is hope one of these guys take the reigns and produce to a level that defense must respect the run.
