I hope this includes free agency.

Hopefully not.

I would much rather resign our own guys than another teams trash.

Many of the good teams in the league are not overly active in free agency. They may sign a player here and there but their main objective is the draft and resigning their own guys. The Steelers and the Packers come to mind though the Packers have been a little more active as of late. The Patriots, until recently, were also relaxed in the free agency period. I think part of their aggressiveness is taking advantage of their closing Brady/Belichick window.

Our inability to spend free agency dollars directly correlates with our recent draft success. What's really ironic is that we basically closed the door on long free agency deals about 5 years ago when we spent a ton of money on Brandon Carr and others. Since then, we have had arguably our two most successful seasons in over two decades.

Well, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I just hope this is not a signal that Jerry's not getting enough pats on the back. I hope it does not mean a return to the sideline at critical times in the game, chatting with starters. Jumping at a FA that the coaches do not want, just to make a splash. ie T.O.
But for now...you go Jerry.

I think if we don't progress further this year in playoffs we'll see Jerry get more active in Free Agency and perhaps pursue more risks losing patience and or sensing only he can make a difference with the final pieces.

Plus now that he's been validated as a football guy in the HOF he has nothing left to prove .

Balls out on his final push to hoist the Lombardi again.
Keep on keepin on Jerry. Lol

All it took was a gold jacket and he is now motivated?

Wonder what this outfit would have done for him and the team?

He only wears that in the party bus.

So Jerry is finally taking a stance he should be taking every year.

Oh, he has owned up for the failure to win since the very beginning. Effectiveness has improved in his skillsets, but this current team has very good talent as well imput from trusted coaches and scouts. Jerry has been involved in all of the current picture as well.

"The No. 1 thing from this point forward is to win a Super Bowl."

Ummm...so what was the number one thing PRIOR to this year??? Oh, that's right, the various revenue streams. I guess it's dawning on Jerruh that you can't take it with you, eh?

The good teams are good at free agency. Because we spent unwisely in the past doesn't mean we can only continue to make poor decisions. We used to draft pretty poorly as well; we got better.

Patriots just signed the top free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore. They also utilized restricted free agency to sign Chris Hogan.

The Packers are very selective to sign free agents. Charles Woodson was the missing piece in their Super Bowl win. Julius Peppers was an effective signing a few years back. They just added two starters via free agency in Jahri Evans and Martellus Bennett.

This team is ready and the window where Dak's contract is affordable is very small. If we don't use cap room to add some more defensive talent next year than we aren't serious about winning.

How quickly we forget he took a stance the 5th year he became the new owner and then another stance the 6th year, then another stance in his 8th year of ownership. How many stances did Clint, Billy & Bum take let alone in that period of time let alone, COMBINED, let alone WIN?!

Oh God no. Whatever has been going on, in the draft room, for the last few years, is 180 degrees different and successful then Jones's first 29 years. Please don't let Jerry get active again. I'm too old to restart the clock.

He means with the NFL as well. He's already started, re: marijuana research.

I want to see the Cowboys be the first franchise to mandate 5-Star Virginia Tech rated helmets for all players in a move towards trying to solve player safety issues too, or commissioning research into new helmet and pad technologies to increase player safety.

Well for the first time in a long long time, the organization seems to be building momentum and heading down the right path.

Getting unbelievably lucky with Dak has propped us up for the next 5+ years where we can keep building on the foundation we have instead of continually searching for Romo's replacement.

The next 5 years, we should have as good a chance as anybody to compete for the championship!

Yes, provided we don't piss off this opportunity the same way we pissed off the cheap Romo years. We have a very good opportunity. We need to take advantage of it.

We need to win,” Jones said last week after a training-camp practice. “We need to continue to build this foundation we have right now. The No. 1 thing from this point forward is to win a Super Bowl. We can’t rest on our laurels as a team. I sure can’t rest on any laurels in my position. When I look at opportunities ahead for the future, I see a brighter future ahead for the team as well as the NFL. I see more opportunities than I did 29 years ago. I want to be a part of it. I’m going to be very active.”

He wasnt determined all years before that????? Come on. He always wants to win. That's a good thing about Jerry. The bad thing about Jerry is he thought he was smart enough to build a winning team on its own and it never happened. Thank God for Stephen Jones.

I think making the playoffs in consecutive seasons would be a monumental accomplishment at this point.

For the record, I'm not being facetious.

Amen. Allow players to actually remember their days in the game.

Patriots have never been aggressive players in free agency until recently. The Packers are selective but still they aren't aggressive. The Steelers pretty much treat free agency like we do. Target players you can get below market value for and focus on retaining your own guys/the draft.

Free Agency stinks. Look at the players that were available last season. We need a pass rush right? Nick Perry has one season over 4 sacks and just got 60 million dollars...do you want to get in on that? I sure don't. If Demarcus Lawrence finishing this season with 6 or more sacks I have no doubt he wouldn't command that much on the open market.
