I've always thought the comments about getting rid of Carr were a bit ridiculous. He's not a bad player, even if he may be overpriced. But I wouldn't want to give up more money either.

He ain't doing it... he knows he is being overpaid. He also know he won't even get 6mil ever again, he is cashing in.

Can't say I blame him

That means the 2 parties agree in principle to lower his salary, much like the Doug Free renegotiation.

JJ apparently has good rapport with his players in the evaluation process.

One of the media guys said it the other day that they believed that Carr would agree to a reduced deal that added years and gave him security that he would be hear for the next two or three.

I think that they were exactly right and that's what I expect will happen.

Yep. He was never going anywhere this season. It's next season that's in question.

I hate to see the team add years on his contract. He is an overpaid , average CB that could and should be upgraded within the next couple of years. Rob had to have his CBs. An overpayed Carr and a bust named Mo was the players he wanted. I would love to pour hot grease on Ryan.

It doesn't say they are going to lower his salary. It says they are working to lower his cap number. That doesn't mean it will be a pay cut. It could mean a restructure that brings him down several million but guarantees more of his money.

If it was just a standard restructure without a pay cut, they wouldn't have to "work on it".

It likely involves some type of pay cut in exchange for some type of guarantee.

Maybe they guarantee him 4M for each of the next two seasons or something like that.

Give him 8-9m total, guaranteed over the next 2 years

Reduces his cap hit by 4m both years

Better than a straight release for both parties

Not really. Whatever amount Jerry could give him could also be given by another team. Any other team can also give a signing bonus. If Alan Ball can get paid $3M for this upcoming season, pretty sure Brandon Carr can get paid that much and also get a signing bonus.
