I have to disagree, my brother. I think it's not "rightfully so" until we see his playoff performance. I'm not a fan of regular season warriors since the goal is the Super BowlThe extension is coming, rightfully so.
Hope Dak gives the Cowboys a little discount.
In the playoffs, it truly is more a team effort that determines wins and losses. Now if Dak just craps the bed and chokes with the pressure of it being the playoffs while the rest of the team does their part to try to win, I will be the first to say Dak doesn't deserve another extension and for sure not another overpaid contract.I have to disagree, my brother. How are your determining "craps the bed", as his last two play-off exits ended with the ball in his hands and him coming up short, which in the harsh world of win/lose sport that's crapping the bed.In the playoffs, it truly is more a team effort that determines wins and losses. Why would he give a discount?.... and in any case it would be eroded by the deferred bonus payments. I dont think Dak's in any rush to sign an extension, he's getting paid $34m (cash) next season. The extension is coming, rightfully so.

What's your point in so much questions which you already have answers to? You know what I mean. We've all seem Dak and the team "crap the bed" in the playoffs. Same thing goes with any future contract extension. There is only so much of the salary cap available. Best to be able to stretch it out to keep this team competitive. How are your determining "craps the bed", as his last two play-off exits ended with the ball in his hands and him coming up short, which in the harsh world of win/lose sport that's crapping the bed.
I totally agree that Dak is playing probably his best football, though it still results in us coming up short against play-off quality teams. My whole 'issue' with Dak isnt that he's not good enough it's that he has that one glaring whole in his game (clutch >2min comebacks) and that we just dont have the CAP to produce a team that has killer O-Line that ensures protection/running game which can ensure an early lead (for Dak to play his game).
And this is exactly where your talent at general manager comes into play recognize exactly who and what you need to get over the top and go all out push your chips to the center of the table shoot the works and make the tough decisions to get who you need to get you over the top.How are your determining "craps the bed", as his last two play-off exits ended with the ball in his hands and him coming up short, which in the harsh world of win/lose sport that's crapping the bed.

I ask because some say that the two SF play-off games weren't examples of Dak crapping the bed. What's your point in so much questions which you already have answers to? You know what I mean. The problem with the extension is what Dak/France is willing to accept. Indeed, even the length of contract is a potential concern (rumors wants a shorter contract that will allow another chance at FA - which because of the existing deferred bonus WE CANT DO, as the CAP hit will be prohibitive).Same thing goes with any future contract extension. Oh I agree, and your Henry point is that very decision, giving that weapon who would of provided another short yard weapon (especially used in clutch situations) and who could presumably perform behand a questionable O-Line.And this is exactly where your talent at general manager comes into play recognize exactly who and what you need to get over the top and go all out push your chips to the center of the table shoot the works and make the tough decisions to get who you need to get you over the top.
Our division rival the eagles are a perfect example they have rebuilt their whole team won one super bowl and gone to another while we have been sitting on our hands.
You flat out can't have a general manager whose job does not depend on assembling a team that will go to the super bowl Jerry has no consequences for his failures so we continue to fail to assemble a team that is competitive at that level.
This leads me to believe that it's more important to Jerry to stay relative every year than to win a super bowl one year and risk obscurity for a little while
Unfortunately there is no quarterback or coach no matter how much they get paid that can make up for Jerry's lack of talent at general manager
That's not totally accurate. The Eagles recently gave Jalen Hurts a huge contract ($51 mil/year).Oh I agree, and your Henry point is that very decision, giving that weapon who would of provided another short yard weapon (especially used in clutch situations) and who could presumably perform behand a questionable O-Line.
The Eagles ability to turnover the roster, accept rebuild years and play off the cheap years of a QB, behind a strong O-Line is the antithesis of what we do. As you say we prefer the 'names' and ability to persistently fight for the play-offs (with all the financial income they bring).
But Hurts' contract is structured in a way to give 4 years under a low CAP hit (still only taking up 10% in 2026) around which they can build a team. The problem is that the Jones' have deferred the CAP payments on Dak's contract to a scenario where the CAP hit on the next extension is going to be severe from Yr 1.That's not totally accurate.
