" I'm counting on Tony Romo for the next 5 years ".

I know romo loves the game , and I would love to see this happen but , Jerry needs to understand he must take a QB in next years draft . Insurance policy .

I would hope that he does. I'm all in favor of looking to the draft to get a QB that the Cowboys can groom to one day take over, I also hope to see them continue to work and develop Dustin Vaughn.

i wish we would start dustin Vaughn vs the jaguars gives romo another week plus the bye week to get healthier. Plus get to see what we have in dustin in a live game. We seen enough of weeden. He sucks.

Yes we would see what we the fans do not know, the coaches do have a better idea they see him.

Jones will get bashed for saying what he said. But he's not going to say it any way different during the middle of the season.

They should and probably will take another QB, unless they feel Vaughn really has something.

The problem with that is that to get a QB that would be ready to be the #2, then it would need to be a 1st or early 2nd round pick most likely. They really have to have somebody that is ready to the the #2 immediately. You don't want to go into the draft with the idea of absolutely taking a QB early. Taking one later in the draft does not really solve the problem of having an immediate #2.

They probably need to find a free agent that is better than Weeden. Colt McCoy is an FA and it appears that McCoy >>>>>> Weeden.

that is a very good point. if you have a team that has a solid roster and no major holes, taking a qb early to groom is great. but we have lots of holes we need to fill and taking one late in the draft is most likely a wasted pick. people can point to brady and romo but they are rare exceptions. the majority of nfl starting qb's are top picks and thats never going to change there will be exceptions but in general when you need a qb you take one early and this roster has too many needs to do that this year i think

This has nothing to do with rather they should, or will, start thinking about finding the person to replace Tony.

I would hope that the years after Aikman would still be enough in Jones mind to remind him that it's not smart to wait until your guy is done before you try and have the next guy here.

If Jerry truly means the above then you can forget a out the below.

The only forward thinking Jerry is good at is contracts. Not future prospective talent replacement.

Montana/Young .. Favre/Rodgers .. Manning/Luck

I said in an earlier post, we need to start looking right now.

We will see, thankfully he did not take Johnny Football but that shows me he would be interested in a QB. In the end it is our scouting department who will check out the prospect and the coaches giving their views on those prospect and the needs they have.

Can't blame him.

In his 20 years of GMing this thing he's only found 2 franchise qbs. And one of them "was a miracle."

If Jerry was actually smart, besides emotional, he would have removed Garrett from the Romo equation long ago. This is the delusion of Jerry.

I think they do need to draft a QB but I agree with the FA line of thought as well. If the price is not too high, I wouldn't mind them looking at Cousins. I think he would be a decent backup QB.

In this day and age, I would like to look for a big body QB, .. like Manning, Brady, Luck, Rothleisberger, etc.
