I don't think he would, Lukin :muttley:

What has 5% got to be worth? You can't even extrapolate that number from Forbes recent evaluation, as surely, if the Boys went on the market, they would get more than $4.2 bil. Considering the daggon Clippers got $2 bil.

Probably $300-400 mil for 5%. Easy, no?

Easily $300-400 mil if not more, it would all depend on what someone was willing to pay...

All I know is that was a shrewd business decision buying the cowboys...in 30 years the franchise value has gone up over 4 billion, wow...

Only thing he has to worry about is the estate planning it will take to pass the team onto his 3 children without a giant tax bill
Better Call Saul
Seriously though, capital gains tax on that is real money.ha. Maybe the team would have to be sold for something like that, idk. I'm sure Jerry has it covered though

That kind of Estate planning is way above my pay grade but I do that George Steinbrenner died the year they completely eliminated the Death Tax.... the family thought they caught a huge break but the next Congress made the new Death Tax retroactive....ouch

Remember a 1/3 of the stadium was financed by the City of Arlington tax increases attached with a 30 year lease.

And The Star in Frisco was supplemented by the city of Frisco for about 150 million and the Frisco ISD by the tune of about 30 million in Ford Stadium. That doesn't include private investors who donated for the construction of the headquarters , etc.

Much of the Cowboys net worth is tied up in the stadium and now the Star. And the stadium is the largest contributor to their #1 revenue.

Jerry didn't become a true billionaire like most of his fellow owners until he built the new stadium.

As far as what happens after Jerry we can only speculate. Gene said years ago she didn't want her kids running it in the same fashion Jerry does publicly.

Id assume Gene if living will inherit and the kids continue to run as is. And when they're both gone is when it becomes more complicated assuming they all have equal shares .

It would be unusual for all three kids to agree on the direction and mgmt. most likely one or two would emerge to buy the others out. If they couldn't come to terms probably sell out.

Imagine if you had equal shares would you want your partner or sibling in this case running the team? And why it's more likely we'd see them hire a professional mgmt team they all could boss and hold accountable ,buy each other out or sell it entirely .

Jerry was surely a billionaire before the new stadium was built. Hell, he spent ~$600 million of his own money on it.

The Cowboys were a billion dollar franchise before Jerry World was built.
