The bit about Gregory's SAT score is interesting, but what Jones failed to mention is that he had help. Gregory had smoked his homeboy Ivory's ashes before the test.

No, just does not seem like you know Manley very well.

The detail you provided is like pointing out he was actually fired on a Thursday when I said it was a Tuesday. It doesn't make any difference to what my point was.

Got it, makes sense. I was under the mistaken impression that it meant you did not know the player very well

My mistake.

A lot of players can be good, but they must first be available to play. Josh Gordon could be great, but we may never know it. And though talent is what captivates us, there are other considerations that cannot be ignored, because demons have undone the careers of much better players than Randy Gregory.

Also, did Jerry Jones really use "brilliant" here?

Hillbillies are a fact of life in Kentucky, but not all Kentuckians are hillbillies. So?

Gregory has a very high SAT score, so that means he's also dumb because someone else was?

Just by interviews, I could tell Gregory was a pretty bright guy...but one who had issues. Didn't know he had the highest SAT.

I don't know about, "dumb as a box of rocks" but he was considerably less intelligent than Randy Gregory.

He could not read...but went to college. Cannot remember if he graduated. BUT....BUT if he did....WOW....just WOW!

One thing I do think Jerry is right about... And that is as pass rusher, there probably was no other player with his upside in the last two drafts.

The thread title reminded me of "The Secretary of Defense" Dexter Manley who despite fully understanding the expectations, allowed his demons to get him banned from playing in the NFL. I pray for our guy Randy and hope his career doesn't end like Dexter's did.

I know what you mean, but I would hope he has a Dexter Manley impact ON the field. :)

There was no reference to ANY player but to a concept of low comparisons. AS with your view, exchange a conversation with a low level of observation, and that person will merely attempt to beat you up with stupidity...go figure.

I also guess that the Crusades weren't purely Christian in concept...

Why you gotta go there?

Not saying he was a smart guy. Just saying his love of weed was a bigger strike against him than his mental capacity. Maybe those two go hand in hand.

He had issues with cocaine/crack, not marijuana. Cocaine (crack esp) is MUCH more addictive than marijuana.

At the same time, he added that Gregory has the intelligence to comprehend the situation in front of him. After all, according to Jones, Gregory boasts the highest SAT score of any player he has drafted with the Cowboys.

I don't know if that speaks very well of the Cowboys. :(
“He’s got great human skills and personality – he’s nothing short of brilliant. And certainly he’s got his demons,” Jones said. “To that end, I know that lack of understanding where he is, is not one of them.”

Why you gotta go and put the man's business all in the streets, Jerry?

Should you be divulging such a description in public? Jerry just doesn't know when to shut up.

Telling the world that Gregory has "demons."
