Coach Jerry has spoken.
He got a coaches cap & whistle at the mall , ugh I mean Stadium pro shop just for coaching situations like time management when to get water etc
Coach Jerry has spoken.
If we had run another play it would have been a quick out for about 3 to 5 yards. Could have also been an interception, fumble, sack etc....just saying.
PS, I wrote a response, but it was REALLY long. So instead, I'll just link this video (it's better than what I wrote, so lucky you)
That is fair.Yeah, I've already seen this. Still say it wasn't the best way to handle the situation. But maybe it wasn't the worst. He's on probation. Needs to earn his way off my list.

I pretty sure that he said that the Cowboys DID NOT pull off the ideal situation. But given what happened, they hardly "butchered it".This is shoddy logic. Ideally:
1. At 33 seconds Pollard run ends
2. You hurry up to the LOS and are ready at 25 seconds
3. You wait!
4. You don't run the play at 25 seconds, you run it so that this is the last play with just enough time to call the time out
Maybe the Chargers get lucky and manage to keep a few seconds on the clock. But that's gonna get eaten by a field goal and squib kick. Herbert shouldn't see the field again.
I would say sounds good and let's move on but McCarthy didn't manage the clock well in the loss to Tampa either.who cares.
it worked.
we won.
remember it for next time.
move on.
They were going to kick it. Safe play. What's the use in having a good kicker if you don't believe in him?If we had run another play it would have been a quick out for about 3 to 5 yards. Could have also been an interception, fumble, sack etc....just saying.
that wasn't my take away from tampa.I would say sounds good and let's move on but McCarthy didn't manage the clock well in the loss to Tampa either.

This is what a blind homer does.Homer glasses never fail…

Feel free to point that out to him on his channel.
Between the lines is MM got his asperations chewed out!
Butchering it, IMO at least, is giving the ball back to the Chargers at the end of the game with multiple time outs.Missing a free play is butchering it. He implied that the Chargers would have opportunity to score, this is not the case (assuming they manage the clock correctly)
itUsing up all of the time and kicking the winning field goal isn't exactly clueless. They could have easily screwed up and given the Chargers a chance to win.
Yea, I’m less impressed with McCarthy. He even sounds like a big dummy.it
a 56 yarder is not a given . having around 30 seconds to get 7-15 yards gives the team a better chance.
But regardless of the field goal happening or not. the way MM explained his lack of knowledge of the clock and the hesitation is alarming as it looks like he got busted and tried to explain it away.
Even stephen on the radio said he was a bit surprised they did not take another snap,
And yet if you throw and have a sack, a hold or int when we were already in FG range I'm sure many would have been upset with that. According to McCarthy and Moore the intention was to run another play but because of issues with clock and personnel grouping it cause uncertainty and frankly I had no issue with handling the uncertainty by allowing clock to get down to the final seconds and attempting the game winner as opposed to screwing it up and finding ourselves outside of FG range. In future no I don't expect them to allow 30 seconds to run down to final seconds for long FG but when you add events taking place, I think they played it safe as opposed to being in a position of shooting ourselves in the foot.
I would not have a big problem saying letting it run down and kicking the 56 yarder worked out fine and was a conservative plan but the problem is....
That was not their plan. They did not have one. I seriously think they thought Pollard would take it outside and run it out of bounds and when that did not happen they were confused on what to do and did nothing. Almost ran a play with 6 seconds that could have run out the clock.
It was piss poor!
And like I said, I could live with that, but they were about to run a play. They were not running the clock down on purpose! Not what they said. Moore did say he had second thoughts on the run play to Pollard in his press conference but I don't think they lacked a plan I think the issue with personnel grouping on the field and issue with the clock lead to some confusion and frankly in a situation like that I would just as soon run the clock down and take my chance with the FG instead of shooting ourselves in the foot and doing something to take us out of FG range all together.
Exactly , MM got busted out of sync and probably totally relying on kellen on the offense , which is not a bad thing as Kellen is a capable OC . The issue here is now aloof MM looks and lacking input. . It solidified the belief he is a 5 million a year head trainer and bus driver and not a deeply involved coach of the most expensive sports franchise in the world .I would not have a big problem saying letting it run down and kicking the 56 yarder worked out fine and was a conservative plan but the problem is....
