Jerry Jones Says “No” Decision Yet Regarding Romo’s Future in Dallas

...But there was one topic that got Jones to move along, and that was the expected Tony Romo question.

Jones certainly didn’t want to upstage the charity event that brought so many familiar faces back to Dallas for one night. But he also said there is no update on the Romo front.

When asked if he has spoken to Romo about his situation and/or if a decision has been made, Jones was quick and blunt.

“No … no” he said as he politely ended his media session and walked towards the reception area...

Thank you Mr. Hill. That's earth-shattering, league busting, never-ever-saw-it-coming news.

If it truly is news and Jones is still thinking about what to do, we have already lost. There needs to be a plan, not hand-wringing and indecision.

What purpose does it serve for the front office to communicate anything whatsoever to the media about their immediate plans for Romo? If the front office is in discussion with other teams about trade terms, there is zero need for publicizing information that might hinder said discussion. If the front office and Romo are talking about his remaining on the roster, it serves zero purpose to open that conversation for criticism outside the negotiating parties.

Yes, it is well-known that Jones has a propensity of running off at the mouth for the media. However, he doesn't divulge every single move he and his franchise make like an overactive Twitter feed. Maybe it would be prudent if everyone (including Hill) would take a chill pill and wait-and-see what happens.

Wait, so it is that darn evil media pressing for answers that is the problem?

In this particular instance, it's not malevolence that's questionable. It's practicality. What answer would Hill or anyone else at this particular time expect in exchange to his question? Exactly. This particular question would be better posed much closer to March 9, when the team will be forced to make a decision based on any option clauses in Romo's contract, than presently almost two weeks prior to that date. Where's the urgency? What exactly would compel Jones to answer that question in any other way than what Hill or anyone else should have expected at this point in time? In my opinion, the answer is nothing.

Still amazes me that people expect practicality from the media.

In the Patriots salary cap thread you said this:
They know how to be mysterious. Nobody knows what they are going to do.

Now us? Transparent as can be, even though we have a marketable QB also.

So which is it? Do you want Jones to talk about what we are doing with Romo or not?

Maybe, just maybe, he is being keeping his plan close to the vest like you said he should be doing in the other thread. I know it might be a small leap of faith but it is better than complaining about both sides of an argument.

I wasn't saying a word about what Jones should have to say or not say. He was not being clever or strategic with his comments.

Jones is not able to keep anything close to the vest and is a terrible poker player. Sadly, I think he was being completely honest about it. He doesn't know because he is thinking about the situation emotionally.
