Jerry Jones Says He Wouldn't Trade Tony Romo for Any Other NFL QB

Mike Fisher of CBS Dallas-Fort Worth passed along comments Jones made during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan's G-Bag Nation. He admitted if the Cowboys aren't able to win a championship with Romo under center it would be his "biggest disappointment having owned this team."
"He is a quarterback that can win Super Bowls. He is a franchise quarterback," Jones said. "I really would not. I really would not (trade him for any other quarterback) for what we've got ahead of us. He's who I want as opposed to a choice throughout the league."
Jones explained that Romo, when healthy, is starting to showcase the perfect storm of high-end ability and a firm understanding of how to lead an offense consistently. Romo ranks second among active quarterbacks in career passer rating, according to Pro Football Reference.
"It's not hyperbole, either," Jones said. "I really mean it. He's got skills and his ability to read defenses, his ability to read them impromptu, plus be able to obviously make some plays that aren't there. All of those things, plus his experience now, which we're seeing is that experience."

This is why we can acknowledge Garrett has become a good coach while also conceding the possibility he was not the right hire at the time. If we were going to get the most out of Romo in his prime years, we probably would've been better off hiring a more experienced coach.

I still think Jerry messed up by Hiring Wade Phillips over Norv Turner. Norv and Romo would've been a great duo. Garrett didn't know what the hell he was doing back in those days calling plays.

Romo was coming into his own last year as a truly elite QB...his comeback this year against the Giants only validated that. I'm hoping for 2 more years from him, with the injuries to his shoulder and back its gonna be tough. I'm just sad that he never got a real opportunity for a championship and was robbed of a chance last year.

And why is this news? As if Jones would have said, "Between Brady and Romo, I'm picking Brady every day and twice on Sundays and Christmas."

I love Romo and I now believe it's his destiny to win us a SB.

But.... Sorry. I would take Brady... Rodgers.... Rothleisburger....

Big Ben....ahahahahaha

I'm sorry, but no. All it takes is a slightly upper tier defense and he folds. We'll watch him choke against the Ravens again when they somehow find their way into playoffs.

Norv's Chargers were exactly the same as Phillips' Cowboys. Both underachievers when they both had a lot of talent.

Folds? That's crazy talk. Just missed going 3-3 in Super Bowls.

You gotta give it to Jerry. He stuck with Romo even though there was plenty of seasons people wanted his head. The same can be said for Garrett. In a way it builds stability in the organization. Keep it up Jerry.

I understand that, except of course for Mr Clutch, Get It Done When It Matters Most E-Lie :D

Like comparing Romo to Zeus, the all Mighty or Thor, the Thunder God! How can a mere mortal even be considered when compared to a football god like Eli, the Son of Archie?
