Jerry Jones show next on 1053thefan

You all do realize they review the questions with Jerry upfront as a condition of his making a radio appearance? Jerry hinted to that last week when they asked him a question that wasn't on the script.

You don't know that.

I think it is pretty clear there is some negotiating going on b/t TB and Dallas.

Stop the personal attacks.

If you don't like someone or something...put that poster on ignore and move on instead of making matters worse with personal sniping.

Ever since that caller on the Ticket about 15 years ago prefaced his question to Jerry with "With all due respect" and Jerry replied with "Did you enjoy those 3 Super Bowls?" Live calls have been eliminated and softball scripts have been in place when Jerry is on the radio.

According to one of the beat writers' tweets, Jones stated in the broadcast that he favors the NFL adding another playoff team.

I bet he does.

how about we just rename the regular season as the "playoffs" so jerry and jason can claim they got us in doing it their way?

Yeah, they asked about adding two more teams to the playoffs and naturally he was all for it. Of course he couched it in terms of "bringing excitement" to the cities involved... . Not the money, which we all know is the real answer.

Or maybe he just wants to get all 8-8 teams in.

That is not really all that smart. Using playoffs eliminates the chance for "moral victories".

I disagree in general with the "brings excitement" to the cities involved. What it does is dumb everything down and cheapens the integrity of the game. It is about competition and above all success. Add more mediocrity, you only cheapen the product.

All it does is make it more attractive to markets where they really do not care what happens unless the team is winning. I know it is about revenue, but I do not care about that. Even the most destitute NFL team is in a better position than franchises in other sports.

What he doesn't realize it that the excuses (injuries) are an indictment to how poor the team is ran.

Every NFL team has injuries, ask the Packers' Super Bowl team a few years back. That's where quality drafting and savvy free agent investments come in to play.

Having quality depth at the bottom of the roster prevents you from having to sign guys off the street where even the die-hard fans aren't checking their program to see who made that tackle.

I am sure there are quiet moments he has to himself when he curses at his own reflection in the mirror then he forgets about it.

Maybe if he wouldn't pick players with a history of injuries.

The scouting staff needs to be a little more critical of injury red flags and not have players with that kind of history that high up on the board. That is the only way that risk can be avoided because he certainly does not know enough about each one of them to make an educated call because he is a part-time GM.

That said, he should me making it clear to the scouting staff how durability is key. They seem to have that message about character red flags, but injury red flags seem to carry less of a negative impact on the overall grading.

Ha.

Jerry looks very old now. He's aged a ton. I think all that talk about him having a 40 year old brain & wanting to work another 20 years is just scared talk. Time is running out & it goes quickly.

I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope... Just like the Cowboys' SOP.

I think Jerry is the one who wants to grab the injury prone guys. He likes that it looks like they (he) found value in the draft and go one of those coveted "steals". Whether or not the guy can actually play or that there is only UDFA guys behind the injury prone guy, thats not an issue to Jerry. Jerry watched Bill get credit for taking a chance on getting Marc Columbo off the injury trash heap and has tried to copy that since.

If they allowed 18 teams in the playoffs we would still blow week 17 and miss it.

Yep the bar was verrrrrry low this year... Still missed it.

If we lower it some more we will just go 7-9 or 6-10.... Hence still missing it.
