Im just not sure how Mazi moved up into the 1st round as he was sledded by some Mocks to be our 2nd round pick at 58. That’s quite a leap.

Hopefully we didn’t miss on a TE and could have had a DT in 2nd round . I’ll look forward to see how Mazi moved up .

KC wanted to trade up with us to take him. 105.3 reported that draft night.

Losing Zeke and putting a rookie in their immediately upgrades the position. Giving Pollard more touches upgrades the position. Pollard was a pro bowler last year sharing carries . Do we have a pro bowl player at TE? lol

Both can be right. TP goes down and it's all ROJO, not sure that'll fly. Plus TP is going to be proving he can be the starter. I think he'll be great, but yeah I don't want all my eggs in that basket either.

The whole premise of my argument on the importance of adding another RB is that Mccarthy has stated he wants to slow the offense down and grind clock, translation run the ball more. if that is indeed the case adding another talented RB trumps TE
I don't know why MM would make such a bold public statement thus giving away his ambition for the offense.

My top needs as well, I just believe G and RB are more pressing needs than TE. You can add a TE in the later rounds.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declined tonight to discuss the tight end position. “That’s tactical with tomorrow ahead of us. …Last year I showed you the damn draft board.”

hmm...why would jerry decline to discuss?

Thank you for saying that...

Translation: if everyone is going to continue to believe TE is that high on our draft board, why let them know otherwise....

Many had him right where he was drafted as well. I'll say it again, TE was never going to be the pick at 26. We just invested in Ferguson last draft and UDFA Hendershot. That being said, We may wanna add a TE during day 2. If the value is there. We made the right pick.
the other thing is that as many have said there were anywhere from 11-17 first round grades. after that, you pick who you want and even if mocks have them as second rounders, there are a bunch of guys that are really close and graded as non first rounders anyway.

Among Jerry's flaws as a GM is an inability to NOT talk and give away too much information. He's never fooled anyone but himself.

I believe you can add OG,. RB and TR across the next 3 rounds pretty easily.

OG offers:
Bergeron, Avila, Mauch and Torrence but about 7 more guys all rated top 120 prospects.
RB offers:
Achane, Charbonnet, Miller and Roschon for a Texas flavor heavy position group thsat seems strong well into round 4.
TE offers:
Mayer, Musgrave, Kraft, Washington for a solid position group that may drop out a bit before the other 2.

100%. It’s not even debatable.
Except for the fact it isn't true. After the first round ended and all the reported that came out, it was clear the Cowboys weren't going TE at 26. They fooled everyone. Especially Buffalo who needlessly traded up.

Kincaid wasn’t their guy. The Cowboys played this great and kept people from trading up in front of them to get Mazi.
It's perfectly clear now that is 100% true.

It's all out there for everyone to read. Don't jump to conclusions. Just read up.

No matter who the pick was last night people would have had a problem with it.

People mad at Mazi Smith because there were TE's and CB's and edge guys on the board.

But if they picked a TE people would have said it's a deep class and we have Ferguson and Hendershot.

If they picked Joey Porter they would have said they have Diggs, Gilmore, and Bland so there would be no instant impact.

If they picked Nolan Smith they would have said it's a waste with Parsons, D-Law, Sam Williams, Dorance Armstrong, and Dante Fowler on the team.

And on and on and on..........
