I'll say this, TE is A NEED but a huge need? Hmm..I dunno about that. I do think we will add a TE in this draft. Its very talented and deep.
Well, its certainly the spot on the roster with the one of the biggest question marks. We have Ferguson who had 19 catches last year as a rookie, but the guy was not a top tier talent coming out of college like Kincaide and Mayer. Buffalo certainly thought there was good chance we would have drafted Kincaide who looks like a Kelce clone. Nobody is saying that about Ferguson or the other TC fodder we have at TE. Its a talent thin spot and I don't think its debatable. Now you can argue about other spots on the roster also being talent thin and DT is certainly one of them.

What a joke. You guys are simple

Kincaid was our guy. He was taken from under our noses. Clear as day.
Seems like every year that has happened in recent memory we end up with a pro bowler.

1. I disagree 2. If the running game is going to be the emphasis this year as Mccarthy has lead us to believe, we don't have enough talent at the position
Losing Zeke and putting a rookie in their immediately upgrades the position. Giving Pollard more touches upgrades the position. Pollard was a pro bowler last year sharing carries . Do we have a pro bowl player at TE? lol

I dont think we were ever drafting a TE at 26. The logic told me this. THEN go back and watch what Mike McCarthy said at his predraft presser. Listen carefully as he did actually tell us which way we were going. Everyone was heavy panting for a TE. I found it funny and just foolish. We have a great TE room already and adding another at 26 never made sense.
Sure…..wait and see after they draft LaPorta then they are gonna tell you how they almost took him at 26 and couldn’t believe he was still there.

So, we just Franchise Tagged Pollard, a Pro Bowler at 10 million , even after an injury cause he’s unproven?

1.Pollard is coming back of a leg injury, and 2. RB is the position most ready to transition to the NFL. 3. Do really need a pro bowler at the TE position? Much rather have a productive player that will touch the ball 10 to 15 possessions a game, that is if we are going to be emphasizing the running game..

Dallas purposely leaked the TE story I feel. If they truly wanted Laporta, they would have selected him at 26.
I agree. Yet we are talking about essentially 2nd rd players at 26. So if the tags were close, then I understand why they addressed the major problem on the team rather than adding another promising TE to the roster.

Of course, bc there’s like 4 TEs still available, maybe they think LaPorta will be available in the 2nd. Sorta like a couple years ago when everyone was upset ab not drafting Diggs in the 1st rd when we had an obvious need. As we now know, they still were able to grab Diggs in the 2nd.

Side note: I like Darnell Washington at TE for this team. So, I’m not advocating what they should have done either way. Bottomline, I just want BPA that will contribute year one.

A franchise tag is really only for one year, who is the bell cow if Pollard goes down for any significant time?

Guard and RB are bigger needs. Wr and TE are almost luxury picks. Only TE I'm taking in the next two rounds is Washington and that's because he's a freak and adds a dimension that upgrades the running game
TE is right up there with RB and OG.

Tyler Smith might be the LG and you have an All-Pro at RG.
You can definitely use one but you have some real talented options there for this year.

At RB you have a franchise tagged back and a former starter with last years RB3.
You can very much use a guy but you have no issues getting through the season with what you have if no one falls to you.

TE has a 2nd year R4 guy that had concussion issues and a 2nd year UDFA.
Thats not a ton of talent or depth.

WR would be great if you got a top end type but the draft was soft at the position with the best players considered slot only guys. JSN, Flowers. That falls flat in Dallas because CeeDee is an elite slot guy.

DT, OG, TE, RB were my top 4 needs. I'd be pretty excited if that matched our R1, R2, R3, R4 pick order too.

If we don't draft someone tonight, we will sign a veteran. Book it. I agree we need more than one proven RB. But, you can't ignore that we have 3 unproven TEs, and TE has been a huge part of the offense.

We don’t have one yet. Not many teams do have a backup Bell cow.

The point is Pollard is more proven than you’re leading on or we wouldn't have tagged him. Does he have more to prove.. certainly.

My top needs as well, I just believe G and RB are more pressing needs than TE. You can add a TE in the later rounds.

Kincaid isn't the highest rated TE on their board. If the Cowboys were drafting a TE at pick 26 they breathed a sigh of relief when the Bills took Kincaid.

Or they pivoted and took their 2nd round pick early. It could work out. Who knows.

Good news with draft is we can now measure how these players we passed or grabbed under us develop compared to who we drafted.

The whole premise of my argument on the importance of adding another RB is that Mccarthy has stated he wants to slow the offense down and grind clock, translation run the ball more. if that is indeed the case adding another talented RB trumps TE
