Jerry is right, Tony Romo can play another four or five years. What he did not say is he would not expect Romo to be very good.

Jerrah thought the same thing about Aikman.

That's why there was no one ready to play when Troy had the bad back and then the concussions.

It's all so darned pathetic being a Loyal Cowboy Fan..

when we have an owner/GM/talent scout for running things.

I loved Johnny Football at A&M and I'll admit that when it he plays in the NFL I usually try to tune in but he CAN'T play here in Dallas. Can you imagine the circus that would attract? I've had enough about Krakens, monkeys and stealing underwear. Anytime Johnny Football had a drink at a Chilis, it would cause a global nuclear meltdown in the media with Ed Werder standing in front of grilled fajitas as he reports on the circumstances. No thanks.

This is coming from a guy who wanted the Cowboys to draft JF in the first place. I can admit I'm wrong.
Fajitas?

Now I'm hungry.

I disagree.

I think he would be just the type QB who could put us over the top.

Listen..Brett Favre was considered in some ways like Manziel.

He was considered arrogent, somewhat un-disiplined and prone to flights of fancy on the field.

Off the field he also was a partier.

Kenny Stabler?

Ditto.

I laugh at all these people who are so rushed to put labels on somebody who is barely what 22 yr old...?

I'm hoping any disinterest in acquiring Manziel is nothing more than a smokescreen and not wanting to tamper with a guy who is still on another roster.

Frankly, with him starting again due to injury of their QB..

he is going to get the shot at starting for the rest of the year and by the time it is over..

he will be staying in Cleveland..

Too bad I say.

Would look good in Silver and Blue.

So Jerry is probably thinking to himself, "If we had drafted JFF, we would probably have won most of those games that Romo missed and be in the division lead. I knew I was right--validation! No way I'm going to let them outvote me again. 2016 is going to be Jerry's draft!"

One can dream.

We should go with
Said it countless times, his pathological optimism holds this franchise back in so many ways.

Nobody in the entire organization is going to question this outlook with realism. On the rare times someone talks sense to him and above all can make him understand, it is usually too late.

Look at Aikman. He continued to mortgage drafts to get him weapons when his back was shot. Then when it truly hits him, he panics.

You can't negate the idiots he's surrounded by as well. Lacewell and Kiffen, Jim Garrett and Henson being Aikman, Jason saying the defense just needs to produce some TOs so the offense can fulfill its potential for greatness...

the only reason JFF isn't on our roster right this moment is because the only organization in the NFL dumber than ours hasn't cut him yet. the second they cut JFF, jerry will sign him. if stephen tries to get in his way, papa jerry will lay down the law this time with his belt.

Stephen is just as much the idiot as his father is. This is the same guy admitting he had a disconnect with the coaches on Sharif Floyd...

And Jones with the Manziel issue is just trying to make excuses. As he said before the draft, they were not going Manziel no matter what and when they went Martin, they said they had 3 defensive players ahead of him.

This is just an excuse for failing to win any games with Romo out. If he says they got Manziel, they would have supposedly been in a better position to win those games and it bypasses the argument the issues are more than the QB, including the HC and staff.

The problem with this argument is it makes his FO look bad as well, because they aren't looking QB. But Jerry also contradicts himself when he says they didn't even expect him there when he was on the board, meaning their draft board had Manziel drafted way earlier. So of that is the case, why would anybody oppose that pick considering Dallas goes BPA?
