Man I just don’t get the obsession with OBJ. He was once really good but when you look at his stats the last 3 years, he’s a big name with just ok numbers.

Last 3 seasons OBJ played- his stats are really unimpressive
  • Avg 38 receptions per season
  • Avg 4 TD receptions per season
  • Avg 12.4 yards per reception
These are the stats of an average possession receiver.
He will be 31 next season- not super old but has had 2 major knee surgeries and his stats show he’s not as explosive as he once was.

Makes zero sense to me to spend big money on an aging possession receiver whose biggest asset at this point is his past, not his future.
I agree. Not sure what the infatuation with OBJ is. Would rather have someone younger and not coming off not one, but 2 knee surgeries!!

So...let's really appreciate their vision here after a 27th straight year of failure.

They decided what they need to get over the hump is to get rid of the guy who gave you the 2nd most productive offense in the league over the 4 years he coordinated the offense, put more of the load on the QB since he has to learn a new offense and while he's doing that saddle him with a new diva WR yapping in his ear constantly.

How can this possibly fail? Cowboys!

I believe these are the guys they want to go after. End of the day, he is cheaper as he is coming off two ACL injuries and not a 1500 yard season.

And…someone 8 years younger with a ton more upside and less cap space.
he just didn't fit with the browns and baker. in a better offense w/ complimentary receivers i think he can still be pretty damn good personally.
What would make him be more productive here compared to his last two teams? Have you seen his stats? They’re the stats of a player in decline. His stats scream average possession receiver. That’s not what this team needs.

Sign him. 2-3 year deal. 10-11 million a year. Try get rid of gallop. No idea his contract. Cut or trade him he’s not that good - slow and lazy routes. Focus draft on ol/cb/lb/dt.

Can’t draft every position. Need address some free agency.
Sure but there are plenty of younger receiver in FA that are cheaper and have more upside. If I showed anyone his stats the last 3 seasons he’s played - averaging 38 receptions and 12 yards per catch at aged 31 with two major knee surgeries…and his name was not well known, we would wouldn’t be interested.

At this point OBJ is a name from the past.

Becham is a star. That attracts our owner. He sees big potential in merchandising, jersey sales, etc.

He probably has that one handed catch against us etched in his mind. Jethro luvs these kind of talents like TO, etc. Jethro still thinks his risk taking is what provides us an advantage.

But Bob , I totally agree with you. But we have to get in his mind to understand the interest. Lol

Jerry just loves players that can’t stay healthy or have issues. He said he moved on from some players because of lack of availability, then he turns around and re-signs Michael Gallup who’s missed a bunch of games and missed games this season.

Define fail? In Jerry's terms as long as the media is chirping about his team and he has a new shiny object to sell the fan base, it's a win.
