Becham is a star. That attracts our owner. He sees big potential in merchandising, jersey sales, etc.

He probably has that one handed catch against us etched in his mind. Jethro luvs these kind of talents like TO, etc. Jethro still thinks his risk taking is what provides us an advantage.

But Bob , I totally agree with you. But we have to get in his mind to understand the interest. Lol
Key phrase: Beckham WAS a star. Was not is.

Man I just don’t get the obsession with OBJ. He was once really good but when you look at his stats the last 3 years, he’s a big name with just ok numbers.

Makes zero sense to me to spend big money on an aging possession receiver whose biggest asset at this point is his past, not his future.
What will Jerry do with all those OBJ Jersey's he had made already. He is just trying to justify his cost and recoup his money from the sales. :muttley:

Sure we need a WR. But what this team needs way more- at least if we’re serious about competing for a championship- are a pocket crushing, run stuffing IDL and probably another excellent offensive Lineman.

Getting good WRs is way easier than a difference maker in the trenches. But Jerry Jones has never learned that lesson. Despite three decades of instruction from his failures.

Last 3 seasons OBJ played- his stats are really unimpressive
  • Avg 38 receptions per season
  • Avg 4 TD receptions per season
  • Avg 12.4 yards per reception
These are the stats of an average possession receiver.
He will be 31 next season- not super old but has had 2 major knee surgeries and his stats show he’s not as explosive as he once was.

Makes zero sense to me to spend big money on an aging possession receiver whose biggest asset at this point is his past, not his future.
Jones has Beckham's one-handed catch against his team on constant rewind-and-replay inside his head. He... must... have... that... playmaking... ability... on... his... roster... or... he... will... stroke... out...

As always your intentions are admirable but Jethro‘s ways don’t usually apply to normal strategies.

Cowboys news: Jerry Jones adds fuel to the fire again, will talk with Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham figures to be one of the top available wide receivers when free agency begin on March 13, Though as he is free now, teams can talk.

Just shut your stupid mouth Jerry!

There are better, younger, cheaper, and MUCH more stable choices to choose from than OBJ.
AND even if you do want OBJ, Jerry, by announcing it to the world, his price goes up!

Doesn’t mean any of us have to like it or not point out this ownership’s foolishness.Or buy tickets or merchandise which I haven’t done in over a decade now.

Obviously I fully understand JJs bull headed stupidity. But I refuse to just say “Oh well, that’s just the way it is” and not expect more. The Cowboys are my favorite team and always will be. Despite this owner.

There’s an ancient saying I adhere to: “I am only one…but still….I am one.”
I other words I may be just one voice, but it’s the only voice I have. I will always plan to use it.

Right…that play from what 8 years ago?
Yep. He is still as enamored with that play as he is with almost single-handedly putting together a team that won three Super Bowls.

Prediction if he signs Beckham: Jones will talk about that play during the press conference with a cheesy smile and a wink at the end.

Why not overpay for a 30 year old WR coming off a knee injury? lol sounds like a really smart move. Is this the splash everyone is hoping for?
