Just some insight into Jerry’s business life.
:dance::dance::dance:

Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones said Friday he’s excited to spend another $1 billion on developing the land around the team’s practice facilities at the Star in Frisco, Texas.

Speaking at luncheon held on the field at the Star’s Ford Center by the Dallas CPA Society, Jones talked about extending himself financially at the start of what would become a $1.5 billion project that included some local taxpayer dollars.

“Well, we’re standing here today several hundred million dollars later and that shows you how easy we went, and we’ve got another billion to go here to finish development,” Jones said.

Jones’ real estate company Blue Star Land filed plans with the city of Frisco for a series of office buildings at The Star earlier this year.

The company is currently developing a 17-story high-rise and is working on plans for what could be up to four office buildings on the surrounding property to go with an existing office there. One of the new offices would be between 300,000 and 350,000 square feet, said Blue Star Land President Joe Hickman.

“We’re in the middle of the design process and will take it to market,” Hickman said in a brief interview after the event Friday.

And here I was getting giddy about spending twenty dollars on alfalfa seed. I'm evidently short sighted.

Say what you want about Jerry the GM.

Dude is a true business man though. We are the standard for everything in the NFL though, except winning.

oh yeah? Made it to the new stadium last year...couldn't have been more disappointed. $$ for everything was beyond outragous...couldn't tour the stadium. High pressure sales...everywhere. Price gouging everywhere. Merchanise was crap...cheaply made. Tailgating was non-existant outside the stadium. Couldn't find a place to eat before the game. Parking was 40.00...Police w/ automatic rifles outside the stadium. Worst game day experience I've ever witnessed. Will not be coming back...ever.:( I can't even imagine trying to take a family there...the kids would be scared to death. Cops w/ automatic weapons...everywhere to make the people feel safe. Jesus...who in the their right mind thought that one out?

I knew it. He is replacing high priced players with office buildings. No wonder he is sitting on all that cap space and didn’t want to spend money to improve the team. Embracing the youth is just a euphemism for “I need every penny I can get my hands on right now”.

Why even be involved in the day to day of football, seems like his plate is too full. He's rich and not getting younger. Hire a football guy and let them go to town.
He isn't.

He gets a daily report on football activities such that he can appear informed when talking to the media.

Stephen Jones runs the football operations.

With the exception of the cops with rifles, sounds about like any other NFL game I've ever been to. I read an article few weeks ago about Arthur Blank lowering the price of concessions at Falcons games and even having a local, $5 craft beer on draft throughout the stadium. Apparently, it's been very successful and they've seen tremendous lift in their sales because of it. I wish other teams would follow suit.

I think some of us have found a new kind of sport. Let's count Jerry's money instead of playoff wins! We're now top 5 baby!

LOL. But I thought Jerry really wanted to win? I'm excited about Gene Jones's latest artwork, the new Blue Star skyscraper deal, and my wife regularly wears Gene Jones Jeans! The Packers, Patriots, Steelers, and Eagles can focus on winning championships if they want using real-world football experts instead of family members, but we have the most the bada** stajum AND we are the most profitable! Woohoo!

What was I thinking the past 22 seasons focusing on winning and measuring success in deep playoff runs? I'm just happy to be a fan of the Dallas Jonesboys who have provided decades of entertainment.

Which is just further evidence that we have 2 or 3 guys doing the work of an absent GM. Meanwhile, guys like John Lynch and Howie Roseman are constantly watching film and trying to put the pieces together.

I think they should have made Gene and Charlotte co-GM's years ago. It all about the art and costumes.

If you want a great live sporting event, pick a college game. The NFL is best watched on a 60' flat screen 20 feet from a fridge and a bathroom.

As Jerry said the other day he would spend more money than anyone if he could win a SB. Problem is he wants to do that his own way.......
Yep. And that may be a flaw.

On the other hand, be honest with yourself. If you had seen as much success in your life as Jerry has (including 3 rings), you’d be tempted to “do it your own way” too, no?

Oh if I were the owner I would want my hands on it all as well. We sit on this message board for 12 months a year talking about how we can improve. What we do as an Owner? Lol

There’s 30 other very successful business men NFL owners who aren’t tempted to do it their own way.

Jerry could be a hands on owner while bringing in a NFL caliber VP and GM letting them run football operations like the rest of the league.

Jerry could still make his cameo appearances and have input while overseeing taking credit like most owners do.

But that’s not enough for Jerry. His coaching and football ambitions which drives his ownership propel his need to recieve credit for football operations which sets him apart from the rest of the leagues owners which is the core of the criticism he receives.

FYI. It’s has been posted here that Aikman hates the cowboys and the Jones Family

Let me tell ya, Aikman loves Jerry and they have made a fortune together and continue to do so

The Cowboys have been very good for a large number of former players.

Great business man, all the more reason to hire a GM, even if it's stingy Stephen.

I don't think he still is involved with washing the jocks, but I'm holding to his initial commitment to the tradition and sanctity of winning as a Cowboy. If he is a rich business man...he's not off the hook for doing a winning team still. Period. I don't care if that is as a GM or not. That part is his call and not my whipping boy. His team has still been a top 10 winning team over the past 10 seasons, anyway...his team has recent experience in the playoffs. Either embrace black 'n blue December and then the playoffs. That involves a quality team and not sweet talk...but no whipping boys. Win or move on.

He's been doing more moving on than winning as of late.
