you ignore 99% of the truth to pull at the single loose thread showing and still fail......if you think we made a serious run at Weddle then you are fooling yourself....a non-face to face offer starting offer that his video game buddies who weren't financially impacted preferred until it was blown out of the water...so close

its like saying we almost beat NE last year because it was tied after the first quarter

It's nothing like saying we almost beat NE last year. You said, and I quote: "we didn't even look at guys like Suh, Josh Norman and Eric Weddle...". I pointed out that you were wrong about that, and you lack the grace to say 'oh, you're right, I hadn't heard those details.

Now you want to paint it like I'm ignoring something in order to save a face that doesn't really exist. I'm not ignoring anything. All I did here was point out that we did, in fact, look at a guy like Eric Weddle. That's it. Pretty simple really if you're not trying to tap-dance around reality to fit an agenda.

I didn't feel we made an effort commensurate with his potential to help our team.....one low-ball phone call is basically ignoring him to me....these guys want to be woo'ed a little and we made it clear we weren't really interested....like the 4/16m offer we made to DMurray but we didn't even bother to up it with Weddle

Jerry Jones has stated many times "I am the Cowboys"

Jerry Jones only cares about himself and in doing things his way ........... his ego is the only thing that matters.

So Jerry really loves himself because he is the Cowboys? Definitely a less flattering interpretation.

I agree 100%. Color me unimpressed by how much money he makes. Color me unimpressed about how "relevant" the Cowboys are.

I totally get in the initial post Jimmy era he wanted to show himself, the fans, other front office executives around the league...that he was a "football man" and could win without Jimmy. But this has gone on long enough. It is the fans that are suffering. I don't enjoy 1 red cent of his billions.

I don't puff my chest out when debating with fans from other teams about being the #1 franchise in the world in terms of monetary value. On the level fans are at...it's about enjoying Sundays cooking out on the grill and cheering your team on. At the end of games...at the end of seasons....it never crosses my mind to say "well...at least we make more money than anyone else"!!!!!

Post of the year

Jerry should admit they made a mistake not getting Murray signed, and Dez signed early.
And since many think Murray wasnt needed, or worth any money, they didnt replace the not worth the money guy with someone
who could do the same thing.

They went into the season with discount RB's and did ok, but it wasnt the same.
Even before tony was hurt, it wasnt the same, and I think led to tony getting hurt.

Signing Murray to the deal the Eagles signed him to would have been a disaster. 100% it was the right thing to let him walk, as the season proved. We were 2-0 after the first two weeks. Had the offense stayed on the field nobody would be looking at 2014 at all right now.

Jerry I have always appreciated your passion and willingness as a owner to go all in for the team. If you had just hired football folks to run it, we'd be closing in on 10 super bowls by now.

Philly got out of that contract so easily that all the hand-wringing about signing Murray to a crippling contract looks pretty silly.....they were never a good match and only signed him to hurt us but it worked out OK for them....the pick swap with TENN was gravy

If he really, truly cares for the Cowboys, he'd hire a GM.

That is no silver bullet either. There are teams who have had dozens of gm's, some with past success and still couldn't build a winner. It's much more complicated than just hiring a gm

Why do you try to characterize Cowboys fans' pleasure at PHI signing him to a disastrous deal as "hand wringing" of all things. Those of us who get how these things work thought that deal was amazing.

The fact that they were able to get out of it doesn't mean it wasn't a truly stupid deal. And it would have been just as dumb if the Cowboys had made a mistake it turns out they were smart enough not to make in the first place.

The mob here said not to sign him or WE would be crippled for years...PHI did exactly that and they are already out the deal with barely a scratch....we just don't have the guts anymore to sign anyone and will come up with a million excuses....Murray was perfect for us and a horrible match for PHI, that is the difference and the outcomes would have been 180 degrees better if we signed him

Nonsense. It was a terrible contract for them and a blueprint for what not to do in Free Agency. It was an embarrassment that contributed to a regime change there.

Murray doing that same deal in Dallas would have been a disaster. He wasn't worth the money, plain and simple. He was a too-old back with too much mileage on him.

see hand-wringing remark^

Murray was a perfect fit for us and now we spent the same money but also used the 4th overall pick to correct our mistake

Nope. He had too much mileage on him and his big contract was a bust.

Man- its so obvious that jerry loves and cares for the cowboys. As an owner, what more could you ask for. Sure he makes mistakes as a GM, and im sure nobody beats himself more over these mistakes than jerry.

20 years worth of mistakes. If he wasn't the owner, he'd have been fired 15 years ago.
