Jerry Jones worried it might be too late to save Cowboys' season

Unless Jerry said something that's not quoted in the article, then he didn't say it might be too late.

"However you want to count them, you have to ask: How realistic is it for Romo and Bryant to come back and then we win all of them? It's not. We really do need to be playing better than we are playing. If we don't do that, then it might be too late."

He said it might be too late by the time Romo returns if we don't start playing better. Which, of course, is akin to saying almost nothing.

So with what he said, how is that truly interpreted as him conceding the season.
Being behind a game where he hoped we would be, is not saying the season is over.

Jerry never said the season was over.

If Jerry is even slightly alluding to the fact the season *could* be over, he doesn't have a lot of faith in the way things are going to sort out. This is the guy that predicts a super bowl almost every year.

New Orleans was a must win.

The PHI game is a must win
The TAM game is already a win
The NYG and SEA games are a wing and prayer game.

The Giants certainly are a beatable team. The Seahawks, their defense is just too tough for a backup QB to compete. But Eagles, Giants, and Tampa are games we can win.

Losing Romo and Dez is because of the idiotic offense we have. We seem to finally have upgraded the defensive line, and we still can't fix the offense and have to rely on Romo making plays.

That play was such a fluke. We had 3 receivers and only 2 defenders. Yet Witten and Beasley run into each other and the ball slips out of Romo's hand.

He knew it was a quick release and tried to hold up when he saw the defender right there.

Instinct is to dive for it, except for the Eagle LB who landed right on Romo.

He said it could be over if they don't win one of the next couple of ball games and get it turned around soon. That's an accurate statement.

It will take a few more weeks, but the season is over. Giants have major revenge game as does Seattle and Philly. 2-7

Used to. He's kind of toned that down of late.

Out of curiosity, how many here think we'd have a good chance of having won either the NO or ATL games with Hardy and McClain back in the lineup, given how much of an impact it made Sunday? (I do).

Of the ones who think it wouldn't have mattered, how many think Hardy, McClain, Dez, Gregory would have made the difference?

My point isn't that we're going to magically start winning. I do think it's pretty reasonable to expect that we actually will be playing better going forward. The talent infusion has been and is going to be really significant.

Jerry's right and I respect that he's outright saying it.

I would like to hear that there are some contingencies though. It's obvious we have to play better across the board.

It's obvious we have to take some chances across the board too.

Yes, we need to create turnovers and give up less. That's everyday football. We get that.

But spark special teams up. Use some trick plays. Get some play action in there. Take a chance on defense to get us back in the game if need be instead of bend but don't break.

If we're down and we need to attempt an onside kick coming out the half then do it. Take some chances on offense and when you do, go deep so if we turn the ball over it's in territory where they should get the ball.

I'm no pro coach or at any level but there are ways to pick your spots at taking much needed chances. Do them before they are much needed and the other team knows it.

Your defense plays lights out in the 1st half because they are fresh and they are the strength of the team currently. Well take these chances in the start, try to get ahead and run the ball. Keep the defense fresh for the game and the running game an important variable.

Become aggressive.

Because without ball control 6 points, not even 20 points is going to do it when your defense is tired and depth depleted.

They would beat NO and Brees probably doesnt finsish the game. Atlanta was iffy.

This is what I'm thinking. I think with the addition of Hardy, Gregory, and Mclain, this D will be one of the best in the league. All we need is a QB who can let them rest and score a decent amount of points and we are in good shape. I think our pass rush is going to be great the coming weeks but the Offense has to somehow move the ball and I think Cassel can do that. I just can't picture us not making the playoffs unless we sustain even more injuries to someone like Lee, Hardy, or even Dez all over again. I'm not wearing Homer glasses or drinking the Kool aid but when we get Romo and Dez back this team is going to be very hard to beat..........
