Zeke is the reason we won those early years! I guess we should have passed on Dorsett and Emmitt
He was part of the reason. He was also part of the reason we didnt win more the last 3 years. Zeke rarely showed up in big games or playoffs.

Sorry, ZEke wasnt Emmitt. Laughable comparison. Emmitt was also around 20, not 4.

Ownership made coaches feature Zeke and feed him goal line touchdowns the last 3-4 seasons to soften how bad that pick ended up being just to save some face. At least they admit it was a dumb pick now.

Different time and the league is different.

It was a great pick then but it was never the smart pick long term. Even then.

But..

A lot of people didn’t like Ramsey because he played more safety than corner and didn’t have a lot of picks.
Umm............no its been confirmed. It was NOT a good pick.

I'm not the biggest fan of picking RBs in the first round unless it's some freak of nature however that position can go from hero to zero insanly quickly. However signing them to a big contract is dumb as hell.

Zeke was drafted to give one of the final pieces to Romo on offense. Between zeke and the OL in 16 that was argurably superbowl territory and are best chance to win. Jerry and co basically shot themselves in the foot starting Dak

Zeke is what made Dak. Why Dak looked his best his rookie year(plus Romo and fredbeard helping with plays and reads x1000)

Now don't get me wrong Dak would still be where he is today but that 2016 team with Romo should have been the year if he stayed healthy
I use to think that but in hindsight? I'd say the offensive line made both Zeke and Dak.

I've said it for many years. The Cowboys should have drafted Ramsey.

Jerry's comment makes me wonder how his line of thinking will impact what the Cowboys do at 26.
It was the right pic at the time unfortunately Romo got injured and the idiots kept Dak in. If it was Dak with no Zeke Romo gets his job back.

Stop lying Jerry.. you picked him for Romo, but you blew it with the Dak starting disaster

Zeke’s value was also seen at that point in time when he was suspended 6 games.. Zeke’s life span for a RB was pretty much right in line with what RBs are..

Zeke also got Dak his fat contract..
You mean the disaster where we won 13 games, 11 in a row and Dak won rookie of the year over the hero Zeke?

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Another hollow comment punted into the river.

Was good pick at the time because it would have been Romo's last hurrah with a great OL and Zeke was amazing that year. But I always questioned the amount of the contract he got after that.
We needed defense, not a RB. With our Oline any good back or any two good backs would have been just as effective. Heck would could have just held onto Murray. He was better than Zeke anyway.

Vastly different situations as there was no free agency. Plus, both Dorsett and Smith played in and won Super Bowls very early in their careers.

BWAAAAA!!! Another romo apologist. LOL

Cowboys won 11 in a row under Dak and Dak went for 300 yards and 3 TD's that year in the playoff loss. The kid was a stud and had one of the best rookie years in NFL history. Even romo said point blank Dak deserved to be the QB.

DOH!!!!!

The line is what made Zeke and the running game. We saw what happened to Zeke once the Oline faded. So did Zeke. Any good back steamrolls behind that Oline.

The NFL knew it to as they made Dak rookie of the year over Zeke.

NEXT!!!!!

For the folks that say they like the player, but not the (second) contract- That second contract was a forgone conclusion after Zeke was drafted #4 overall. It was inevitable.

Wound up being one of the dumbest picks and biggest overall mistakes in franchise history. Horrible value and then double down on stupidity by extending him as the highest paid back in NFL history.

Zeke and the OL was why they won 11 straight and 13 games.

And Dak was part of the reason they lost in the playoffs. That has been proven to be a trend with him.

one or two good backs gets 1500 yards no problem behind that great oline. They dont get suspended in the 2nd season and ruin a season either.
