Will Crabtree be eligible for the NFL in the next draft? Was he a true freshman or a redshirt freshman this past season? He would have to be a redshirt to meet the 3 year eligibility requirement.

He is not a product of Texas Tech's system. His overall numbers are a product of their system, but if you watch him on the field you can see that he can be a very good NFL receiver. He would do well on many college teams. You can see the difference between him and most other Texas Tech receivers who really are products of the system.

He has a redshirt year under his belt.

And you're right. He's very gifted.

He was a redshirt so he will be availible to declare. I read an article a couple of weeks ago in the Houston Chronicle that scouts had him higher then any other WR in the this years draft. This kid is a freak and is the best college receiver/IMO since Randy Moss!

System players rarely do well in the NFL

That is simply comical.

Crabtree is a 6'3" 200 pound WR who gets doubled and still makes plays. The other teams key on him and he still sets records.

Tech has created new plays not even in the system just to get him the ball. He is probably the biggest threat in the country because of his size and speed.

Graham Harrell is a system QB but Crabtree would be a star for anyone in any system. He just had a ridiculous physical advantage.

He was the best WR in the country as a freshman. If he was at tamu you'd have his name tattooed on your right butt-cheek:)

Oh, last year was Michael Crabtree's first playing the position. He was a quarterback in high school. That's why he redshirted.

So in his first year he was the most productive Wr in the country.

Tech's system is very complicated and most guys can't even get on the field as freshmen or sophomores. Crabtree was good enough to do so and then make play after play.

totals:
REC 134 | YDS 1,962 | TD 22

Is that his current weight? He's bit small, dontcha think?

if you saw me pimping DeSean, you should know that size isn't a huge issue for me, and he was way more productive than DeSean

I tend to agree...though it probably will not be popular...the right thing rarely is so bash away!

Crabtree is what tu fans thought Limas Sweed would be.

A gamebreaker.

btw, Crabtree had 9 catches for 195 yards and two TDs versus tu.
a mere 8 for 170 versus tamu.

Johnson is a physically gifted athlete (all the intangibles), but Georgia Tech had a sucky QB so you never got to see it that often.

Crabtree is a freak of nature. IMO the best college football player last season.

System QB's have a hard time making the transition to the NFL, not wr's. Crabtree is already the best college wr in the country. He would excel in any system.

Well, Jerry liked the RB class this year and thought he would get DMac. He got Jones instead. Next year may be a great year for WRs but that doesn't mean we will end up with one. Besides, it takes a good 3 or 4 years for a WR to develop. I don't really see TO playing in another 4 or 5 seasons. JMO.

This is not true. Maybe the first QB is the Mike leach system that you can't say this about.

I am so sick of hearing this--- "insert name" is the product of The Texas Tech system.

Bla bla bla. Most of the time the people saying this have no knowledge of the player and are talking out of their butts, repeating something they heard from another DA.

If you have on of the best offenses in the country for the past ten years it is only logical that the best high school prospects will start getting requited to your school.

This is the case for Crabtree. Tech might have sucked in the past but it is starting to produce NFL quality guys in this "System"

Wes Welker was the product of the same system and he's doing ok.

Jeremy Maclin - Mizzou

Height: 6-1. Weight: 185.
40 Time: 4.29.
Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick.
The 2009 version of DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin set the NCAA freshman record for all-purpose yardage. A dynamic return specialist, Maclin also had 1,055 receiving yards, 375 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns in 2007. He'll be a red-shirt sophomore in 2008, so he'll be eligible for the 2009 Draft.

and of course I like Crabtree
