Among the many frustrating and mind-numbing things we have had to put up with having Jerry Jones be our GM forever, we can now add something that is crystal clear like never before: He cares more about himself and his gigantic ego than he cares about the great history and reputation of the Dallas Cowboys.

This team was once the pride of our state, our community, and to a certain degree, the whole NFL. Today, I saw more people laughing and shaking their heads about what has gone on with this team, it’s (lack of) leadership, it’s over-hyped marketing and worse…it’s obvious lack of seriousness about trying to win a championship. I never thought I would see people in multiple media outlets literally laughing at the state of the once proud Cowboys.

Frankly, if Jerry Jones really cared about the great history and reputation of this once proud and storied franchise, he would step down. But the evidence now is crystal clear: Jerry does NOT care as much about the great franchise known as the Dallas Cowboys as he cares about himself.

And for everyone who says, “Yeah but he made this the most valuable franchise in sports”, let us consider that Jerry did not make this franchise “the most valuable” by himself nor did the Cowboys franchise become that solely because of what Jerry did since he bought the team in 1989.

I‘ve said this many times - Jerry deserves some credit for sure for making the Cowboys more valuable than ever. BUT…let’s be clear…He did not buy the browns or the jaguars. He bought the team that had been known as “America’s Team” for over a decade before anyone had ever heard of Jerry Jones. The team had already won 20 of its current 35 playoff wins before he bought the team.

Jerry cares way more about himself and his entitled children than he does for this great sports franchise we all grew up loving. Let’s not pretend he cares about the Cowboys. He only cares about himself.

Amen. Winning even takes a back seat to his own little self.
I could tolerate the hyper-marketing, the over the top media appearances if we ever won anything besides a wild card game. This off-season was a complete disaster and you could see it a mile away.

Having the oldest GM in NFL history put himself and his ego ahead of the team is just a bridge too far.

Literally the best post of the year. All true. What joke Jerry is and has made this franchise.

Are there any Jerry defenders left on this forum after his latest temper tantrum?

I stopped buying anything w the Cowboys star on it about 15 years ago. I won $100 last season betting another fan that we wouldnt mk the conf championship game. Easy money but it looks like non brain-dead fans are waking from their slumber and realizing that the guy in charge cares only about himself, his hookers, his Johnny Walker Blue, and threatening two small fish in local radio. His response to his latest daughter told me everything I need to know about his character.

I say let's pause the beat down until Monday and see what they can do. A win against the Niners would bring not only the season back on track but also a lot of confidence. I know it wouldn't change the overall picture of this clown show but they would have earned a little bit of credit.

If they lose the Dak and Jerry praising can continue. :muttley:

Jerry reeled me in at a young age with Parcells. Little did I know. I mean, I kinda figured Wade was a lame duck but I guess I thought he could keep the ship afloat. Then by the time of Garrett I was already hook, line and sinkered, err, suckered, err, even more "sucked".
Here I am at 2:12 in the A.M.

How do you prevent sports being turned into "Sports Entertainment"?

Its always been a duality...sport and business...but how do you keep the task of winning Championships as taking precedence over money?

You really cant. The players playing the game prefer larger and larger paychecks. Many players would choose to play for a money making Organization(NFL) than a Non-Profit Organization focused on Championships. Fans want the Championships, Organization and players want more money.

If refusing to do hard rebuilds that take 2 to 4 years to implement because of relevance/money...or refusing to switch QB's because of relevance/money...what is one supposed to do?

Assuming Jerry isnt doing what is needed to win Championships because of relevance/money...the only way to prevent this is to not allow owners of individual teams.

What I don't understand is why Jerry can't be satisfied with being recognized as the best in the NFL at marketing the product and making money for all the owners.

Why is it so important for Jerry to be acknowledged for something he never had the experience, credentials, or talent to do?

Again, it's not just being selfish and depriving all Cowboys fans of an NFL football expert that is completely dedicated to the single goal of building a championship team. It is also a blatant insult to all those GMs that are actually committed to just that.

It's like he's trying to tell the rest of the NFL world that the job is so simple he can perform it part time on top of everything else including his other business ventures. He doesn't understand that it has reached a point that, even if he does win a championship, it proves nothing about his "football prowess".

Any team that wins a Super Bowl every 30 years is simply satisfying the Law of Averages. At this point, winning a championship would only reinforce his legacy of mediocrity.

lol. So the other teams who also have players who like money but don’t have tours going on daily, owners in the media doing radio shows, and a soft culture, that focus on football shouldn’t have owners?

Player will choose money making over winning? So how come Dallas doesn’t win battles with free agents? Ever?

Your name says it all.

Yes it's so frustrating to see what's necessary to build the team properly every member of this forum knows what's necessary to properly build the team.
Jerry knows exactly what's necessary to build this team properly.

But his bottom line is so important and his comfort is so important that he absolutely refuses to do it.

And having just a little bit better Coach than Garrett that instead of just missing the playoffs he could actually make the playoffs and stay even a little more relevant but not spend more money makes him feel like he's pulling the wool over our eyes even a little more.

I think at this point that's part of the pleasure for him to feel as though he's making his money and getting over on us fans by tricking us into believing there's some hope.

As we sit frustrated to know and every week watching Derrick Henry tear the NFL up and knowing that we could have had him and probably be undefeated at this point.
So many poor short sighted decisions that we have to deal with from Jerry just pulls ounce of enthusiasm you have as a fan for the season out of you.

Jerry leaves you honestly embarrassed that you are a fan of this team and disgusted that you continue to invest your time in something that you have absolutely no control of.

The state of the Dallas Cowboys at this point makes me feel like that old Joan Jett song I hate myself for loving you.

I’m not shocked. It’s not a post it’s a question.

NFL players in general like money. So how come on other teams, they actually win?

KC. Paying multiple players, but they win.
Baltimore. Paying multiple players. Win
Philly. Paying multiple players. Win
San Fran. Paying multiple players. Win.

I can continue the list if you like.

The reason behind that. Other than having ownership and a GM in lockstep about winning football games not about how to generate more revenue. They have a culture focused on winning.

In Dallas the focus is look at me and if I don’t like the coach yelling I’m running to Jerry. Jerry compounds that look at me attitude with the tours and the fluff. And it shows up on the field when the team arrives thinking they will win the game solely because they showed up.

Preparation in football is very important. When is the last time you saw this team prepared for an opponent? Kind of hard to do that when practice gets interrupted by helicopter landings.

How do you prevent this situation from reoccurring? How do you govern this situation? Ban Jerry from League? NFL owns all teams? Owners not allowed to be GM's?
