Semantics. Of course he wants to win, he just isn’t willing to do certain things, like hire a real HC and not be the face of the franchise…. and/or isn’t capable of realizing that he is the problem.

I do see how you mean if he wanted it “badly” he would do those things. Again, semantics. One of those endless debates subject to interpretation of words.

Thinking on it as I type, I’d tend to lean toward agreeing with you though. I think he has fully decided that it’s either going to be success with him pulling the strings, or none. He wouldn’t be able to stand watching someone else come in here and be perceived as the reason they finally won.

I’ll take the L on this one lol.
Absolutely. Which means winning is down there on his list of priorities.

If you went fishing w/ a reel that had no line on it, thinking that the fish would jump on the bank w/ you just because, are you trying to catch fish?

Ha right.

I mean…certainly he wants to win. He doesn’t want to lose….but he isn’t willing to allow someone else to handle it.

It’s really just a matter of word interpretation. He isn’t willing to step aside in order to win, so it’s tough to say he is willing to ‘do whatever it takes’….but he truly believes that he is the best person for the job. He recently reminded us of this quite vehemently lol.

Sadly, it should be clear to all of us that he is doing this because he still has a bug up his behind due to how much “credit” Jimmy Johnson got for the 90s teams. Why would he ever allow that to happen again? Some want to believe otherwise, but he only hired Parcells in the first place to get his precious stayjum, and couldn’t wait to kick him out of town. Had a QB in place and a solid roster, which was destroyed within three years…exactly what BP predicted would happen. Then the “HC in training” stepped in and wasted a decade. The failure of this franchise has Jerry’s fingerprints all over it. I don’t care what it’s worth, it’s an embarrassment in every other regard.

Sorry for the rant lol. Just kept flowing.

Does the guy who goes fishing w/ no line on the reel want to catch fish? Sort of, but not really. When you refuse to do the things necessary to win, then you do not want to win. Jerry's bottom line is self aggrandizement, not winning.

I hear ya, not as if I disagree.

It’s an interesting question as to if he refuses to allow anyone else to potentially take his precious “credit” or if he truly thinks no one can do the job better, despite large evidence to the contrary. Probably both.

Either way folks like you and I ultimately pay the price.

I once had hope in the blind squirrel thing with this guy, but that’s gone. He fully deserves to be the fool he is going to make of himself over the next few years.

Throwing away a season and pretending no one will notice, media conflicts, curse words into a mic, etc…is likely just the beginning.

I could tolerate the hyper-marketing, the over the top media appearances if we ever won anything besides a wild card game. This off-season was a complete disaster and you could see it a mile away.

Having the oldest GM in NFL history put himself and his ego ahead of the team is just a bridge too far.
Exactly right Bob and just remember this. While Jerry negotiates a Victorias Secret Pink store lease at the stadium. Other GM’s are scouting tight ends at Drexel.

It’s the mundane, day to day grind that makes a difference not a radio show.

Question if I may from an outsider. If Jerry Jones passes, I'm assuming Stephen would take over full operations? Would it be just more of the same for decades more or is there philosophical changes that are being hindered BECAUSE his son can't do it his way at this moment? I hear so many people saying he has to leave this earth for things to change. Would it actually change? I personally watched William cede to Michael Bidwill and it's been only marginally better. We're still onw of the worst run franchises in the league, and I long for a day that that family's name is no longer associated with the Arizona Cardinals.
Narcissism isn't hereditary I don't believe.

Stephen has a reputation as a penny pincher around here about football operations...butI don't know how far down that root sits in his total personality.

Jerry has raised his immediate family in this ball club, and I would assume the marketing machine would still be in working order post-Jerry.

But undermining coaches, refusing to hire certain coaches because they won't work with Jerry, refusing to hire a GM.....I would be surprised if Stephen is like Jerry in those ways.

Stephen is blamed with some bad contracts around here, though.

I don't know...im giving Stephen and family a chance post-jerry. The problem I see is...the family has been raised in wealth and I would assume want that cash cow to keep churning. I just don't know how much it effects the bottomline to put winning football over marketing and money.

Ultimately, what Jerry is doing is a rare personality trait. I would find it hard to believe if Stephen operated in the same manor

How does the Dallas Cowboys being the highest valued franchise benefit the fans?
It benefits the Jones’ family for sure, and good for them. But it’s really meaningless for the fans.
