I say let's pause the beat down until Monday and see what they can do. A win against the Niners would bring not only the season back on track but also a lot of confidence. I know it wouldn't change the overall picture of this clown show but they would have earned a little bit of credit.

If they lose the Dak and Jerry praising can continue. :muttley:
Jerry loves you! A win over the 9ers means NOTHING! Wake up and smell the roses!

Absolutely right it's not that hard and I already told you the league has to legislate that the teams be owned by the fans.

Like the Green Bay Packers owned by the fans run by a board of directors.
So no one person can corrupt the system.
Go back to post 62 if you feel the need to read it again but for heaven's sake stop asking the question
I meant to type "Not that hard of a concept to understand"

You are the only one that has answered the questions and provided a solution. You directly answered "Nothing can be done to prevent another Jerry" while also providing a solution(the Packers situation). Thank you.

Im speaking out of my butt right now as I have not personally researched the Packers...

But I thought I read or heard that whole stock market, buy a share of the team thing the Packers did was all just total BS. The shareholders had no say in anything and it was more like a thing for hard-core fans to feel good about "I bought a share of the Packers". Could have sworn The Ticket had a segment on this a couple of years ago as Bob Sturm is a hard core Packers fan. Maybe something has changed recently or maybe I misremember what I read or heard.

Odd that every one but you is deflecting attention to things not related to my questions. I guess this board is part football talk and part gaslighting...a duality.

The flack Jerry is getting from fans and the media is annoying the hell out of him. That’s obvious. He’s a stubborn man, so it may take a few years, but if he continues to be blamed and vilified, I think he will decide it’s not worth the grief and step back.

To summarize my thoughts I don't think there's anything we can do with Jerry we are stuck with that and his offspring after him if they so desire to behave in the same manner.
Fortunately I believe the majority of the owners temper their desire to make money with some loyalty to the fans desires to win super bowls.

A correction so that someone like Jerry could not do this again would take legislation by the league and probably not be accomplished in our lifetime or at least mine.

All that said as cowboy fans we have a hard way to go until Jerry is gone at least and maybe things change for the better and his offspring run things in a more conventional fashion but I'm not holding my breath as Steven was trained by his father

Well to me it would. I really despise the Niners since the Stevie the perm Young days. I mean I don't expect the Cowboys to go anywhere either way, but a win against them would cheer me up quite a bit. At least for a week.

Jerry will never back down. If he won't admit that he is the problem after all this time then he is a lost cause. We just need to keep irritating the malignant narcissist until he's no longer in charge of the team. I hope every minute of his remaining tenure as self appointed GM for life is irritating the hell out of that jerk.

Dez non-catch? That was Jerry's fault for being on the wrong side of the refs?

Again...Jerry is fielding some decent talent teams WHILE getting his money.

Everyone on this board will say Jerry's team are trash just to be negative.

Jerry wants to make money and win. No other GM is faced with that. And Jerry isnt kicking money to the side to win trophies. If its the root of the problem...again...Im back to "How do you prevent all owners or future owners from turning a sport into a watered down sport that is about money first?"
For the millionth time, yes it was a Dez TD catch and we got cheated. But there was just shy of 5 min left in the game, not ten seconds. And our defense could not mk a stop. Both Romo and Dak would have won more playoff games but our def in the playoff is terrible. Dez catch, what about the def letting Aaron Rogers complete a 4th and 35 in Daks rookie season? Defense does win championships and our part time GM is incapable of building a great defense.

A self-involved leader is detrimental to anything that involves teamwork as its goal. Unfortunately, Jerry Jones is living proof of that fact.

Youre gaslighting.

Jerry is here. He doesnt have to do what other Owners do and they dont have to do what he does.

Jerry is here already...trying to balance money and winning and its not working and upsetting fans. Nothing is stopping other Owners from doing what Jerry is doing in the future.

Is there a way to make sure Team Owners are focused on winning football and not so much on winning money?

Jerry obviously wants to squeeze every penny out of this football team ownership venture, even at the expense of winning SB's. What is stopping other owners from following suit? Just because they havent doesnt mean they wont. And frankly, as I already stated, rebuilds are awful to go through. I could easily see other franchise take the 'hanging at the rim' approach if its making them money and they dont have to sit through multiple seasons of 3-14 football.

I mean...look at whats happening in Jacksonville or Carolina 2 weeks ago....the defense stopped playing before half-time. Thats what happens when you have crappy teams in rebuilds...players check out and the whole thing is messy. I dont think anyone likes going through multiple years of that. Note...I am not advocating to not do rebuilds...Im suggesting that I can see how Jerry's approach could seem like the lesser of two evils. 3-14 football is just awful awful awful to sit through.
But there’s a bigger reason why he doesnt want to go thru rebuilds instead striving to hang around the rim. It’s not just revolved around the money. At least not directly.

His motive is driven by there’s less combative criticism in order for him to maintain his stranglehold as GM with a team hanging around the rim. And easier to hype and sell hope to fan base stringing them along.

The Joneses have benefited from Washington being worse than the Cowboys for the last 30 years. The Eagles and Giants both have been solid franchises over the past 30 years and have won 3 Super Bowls combined. But there have been at least two NFC East teams with bottom 10 records during the seasons the Cowboys win the East. It appears finally the Cowboys might be a bottom 2 team in the East for awhile and that will cause a change.

Among the many frustrating and mind-numbing things we have had to put up with having Jerry Jones be our GM forever, we can now add something that is crystal clear like never before: He cares more about himself and his gigantic ego than he cares about the great history and reputation of the Dallas Cowboys.

This team was once the pride of our state, our community, and to a certain degree, the whole NFL. Today, I saw more people laughing and shaking their heads about what has gone on with this team, it’s (lack of) leadership, it’s over-hyped marketing and worse…it’s obvious lack of seriousness about trying to win a championship. I never thought I would see people in multiple media outlets literally laughing at the state of the once proud Cowboys.

Frankly, if Jerry Jones really cared about the great history and reputation of this once proud and storied franchise, he would step down. But the evidence now is crystal clear: Jerry does NOT care as much about the great franchise known as the Dallas Cowboys as he cares about himself.

And for everyone who says, “Yeah but he made this the most valuable franchise in sports”, let us consider that Jerry did not make this franchise “the most valuable” by himself nor did the Cowboys franchise become that solely because of what Jerry did since he bought the team in 1989.

I‘ve said this many times - Jerry deserves some credit for sure for making the Cowboys more valuable than ever. BUT…let’s be clear…He did not buy the browns or the jaguars. He bought the team that had been known as “America’s Team” for over a decade before anyone had ever heard of Jerry Jones. The team had already won 20 of its current 35 playoff wins before he bought the team.

Jerry cares way more about himself and his entitled children than he does for this great sports franchise we all grew up loving. Let’s not pretend he cares about the Cowboys. He only cares about himself.
The main thing that Jerry made clear the last 2 weeks is that he is a scumbag. Absolute trash human. Throw him away and start over because this model is a lemon.

He's too proud to step down. The guy has an ego the size of Texas. I could care less about him increasing the value of the franchise. What satisfaction does that bring anyone outside his family? We are the only fan base that celebrates player contracts and franchise valuations. I guess thats b/c a huge chunk of the fan base has never seen the team in a super bowl and its all we got to celebrate.

As pathetic as that is, what else does the younger generation of fans have to celebrate.

It's a fine point, but Jerry really does care about the Cowboys, but only to the extent that he has to have the team's success be attributed to himself as the architect of that success....

With all due respect, why is this a thread? Of course Jerry only cares about Jerry. If God himself came down and told Jerry the Cowboys could win a Super Bowl and all Jerry had to do was step aside and receive zero credit, he would decline the offer out of hand.

Same reason there are any threads. People want to get their thoughts out there. W/ all due respect, don't you realize that like 90% of threads are reiterations? You ever been on a message board before?

I love your sermons my friend but the sad fact is that Jerruh will never relinquish the GM duties until he either dead or professionally diagnosed that he is mentally incapable of doing so.

The sad fact is that most of us already know he fits the second criteria.
