Which means he doesn't care if he wins or not. Winning is not even close to his top priority.
It’s weird that people keep saying he wants to win “his way” when his way has been absolute crap for 30 years. It’s no longer a legit argument for an 82 year old who will apparently never get that credit he’s been searching for all these years! The guy has done nothing but waste decade after decade after decade! His priority has been very clear!

Jerry said on the Fan "Why? The publicity “will increase our tours significantly.” - With regard to the fan tours being a distraction.

Good point. Using the excuse that he "wants to win his way" is simply a copout, and excuse for not caring about winning. I don't even buy that anymore. Jerry does not care about winning, and has gone out of his way to prove just that. I mean, there are myriad examples out there to prove that he doesn't care about it, it's just weird that anyone at this point can even say that "Jerry wants to win more than anyone." He does not.

Among the many frustrating and mind-numbing things we have had to put up with having Jerry Jones be our GM forever, we can now add something that is crystal clear like never before: He cares more about himself and his gigantic ego than he cares about the great history and reputation of the Dallas Cowboys.

This team was once the pride of our state, our community, and to a certain degree, the whole NFL. Today, I saw more people laughing and shaking their heads about what has gone on with this team, it’s (lack of) leadership, it’s over-hyped marketing and worse…it’s obvious lack of seriousness about trying to win a championship. I never thought I would see people in multiple media outlets literally laughing at the state of the once proud Cowboys.

Frankly, if Jerry Jones really cared about the great history and reputation of this once proud and storied franchise, he would step down. But the evidence now is crystal clear: Jerry does NOT care as much about the great franchise known as the Dallas Cowboys as he cares about himself.

And for everyone who says, “Yeah but he made this the most valuable franchise in sports”, let us consider that Jerry did not make this franchise “the most valuable” by himself nor did the Cowboys franchise become that solely because of what Jerry did since he bought the team in 1989.

I‘ve said this many times - Jerry deserves some credit for sure for making the Cowboys more valuable than ever. BUT…let’s be clear…He did not buy the browns or the jaguars. He bought the team that had been known as “America’s Team” for over a decade before anyone had ever heard of Jerry Jones. The team had already won 20 of its current 35 playoff wins before he bought the team.

Jerry cares way more about himself and his entitled children than he does for this great sports franchise we all grew up loving. Let’s not pretend he cares about the Cowboys. He only cares about himself.
On the money, Good on you again Bob!
As you indicated, this year above all others Jerry has really been exposed, and because he can't hide it any longer with his normal BS, it is affecting the play and attitude of our team leaders and showing up on the field "and off" bickering about tours etc.., like never before. Frankly I am very close to just flat out admitting that this team is in turmoil and slowly coming apart at the seams.

Let’s face it, just about every NFL player now has never seen the Cowboys even in an NFCCG, much less a SB. They wonder where that America’s Team moniker comes from.
Exactly. As you intimated, there is 1.5 generations who weren’t alive the last time we won a div round playoff game. My 23 yr old son loves the Ravens and I don’t blame him one bit. But I was born into the Cowboys family.

My thought is now after another 9er dismantling in a prime-time game is: IF JJ DOESN'T CARE WHY SHOULD WE?????????????? As for our over hyped and over paid QB and the only Ring of Honor he can expect to get in is the toilet bowl ring that exists in JJ's executive office restroom.

“He would do anything to win”. That one’s my favorite and he says it every year!

Interesting perspective but ok.

I can promise you he dies one day, but it’ll probably be about 40 years from now.

Retire? Never. No one can do the job better than him (according to him) and he recently reminded everyone of that.

Jerry Jones is great at marketing and awful at building a winning football team, from the head coach on down.

That somehow creates the narrative that all he cares about is the marketing part. I don’t really agree.

He wants to win badly. Badly… but just isn’t any good at it and can’t accept that. The narcissism makes him truly believe that he is better than he is at it. He hasn’t failed at much otherwise in life and can’t accept it.

So, he will continue to take his shots and call it an advantage.
If he wants to win badly then he will do what's needed to win...like giving up GM duties and spending in FA.

Given he doesn't do those things tells me he doesn't want to win so badly....it's all talk

Semantics. Of course he wants to win, he just isn’t willing to do certain things, like hire a real HC and not be the face of the franchise…. and/or isn’t capable of realizing that he is the problem.

I do see how you mean if he wanted it “badly” he would do those things. Again, semantics. One of those endless debates subject to interpretation of words.

Thinking on it as I type, I’d tend to lean toward agreeing with you though. I think he has fully decided that it’s either going to be success with him pulling the strings, or none. He wouldn’t be able to stand watching someone else come in here and be perceived as the reason they finally won.

I’ll take the L on this one lol.

Question if I may from an outsider. If Jerry Jones passes, I'm assuming Stephen would take over full operations? Would it be just more of the same for decades more or is there philosophical changes that are being hindered BECAUSE his son can't do it his way at this moment? I hear so many people saying he has to leave this earth for things to change. Would it actually change? I personally watched William cede to Michael Bidwill and it's been only marginally better. We're still onw of the worst run franchises in the league, and I long for a day that that family's name is no longer associated with the Arizona Cardinals.

One thing many fans don't glean about Jerry Jones is his positives in pride and tries to be competitive each and every season.

He annually seeks informed advice, each and every season. He has lost in the playoffs with the top rated team as well. Some of that is the very nature of football in a single game played.
