As for game he said Falcons D plays a wide 9 with ends on edge and they had trouble with it. Asked about blame and adjusting he just hemmed and hawed and said they needed to get better across the board

Maybe if your coaches did some scouting and scheming beforehand...
I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time all year they ran that. Seems to me that half of the teams Atlanta has played this year had no trouble with it so why did we?
Do our coaches watch any film?

I'm sure Garrett and Linehan will spend all week trying to counter the wide 9 then the Eagles will come out like they did in the pickle juice game and just dog us up the middle and we'll have no answer for it.
Dak willl have 2 broken legs and Jason will have an excuse why he'll lose the rest of the year

How could the coaches have trouble with wide 9? We've seen it plenty of times playing the EaGirls. EaGirls had that type of defense 5 years ago with Barwin and Trent Cole lining up as Wide 9.

It's ********. They didn't trust Cooper (nor should they have) and they didn't trust Green. They need to plant an extra blocker there on every passing play, and they didn't do it.

Not that it would have mattered. One way or another, when you get zero protection from your LT, and can't stop them on defense, your team is crippled.

How can our coaching staff not be familiar with the Wide nine? Its not like its some super secret defense or anything, been around forever. In fact one of the Eagles old DC's used to run it too, Jim Johnson. One of the ways to defeat the wide nine is to use a fullback and have him block the gap that is naturally created between our offensive tackle and the opponents defensive End. Our Offensive tackle basically allows the defensive End to take himself out of the play by rushing so wide that it naturally creates a huge lane between our tackle and their end. You send a lead blocker like a fullback into that lane to clean up the linebacker and the halfback should be able to take advantage and make some really good yardage. In fact,.... the right kind of running game can have HUGE success against the wide nine. IF you have a real coaching staff that is.

Jim Washburn ran the wide 9 not Jim Johnson. Schwartz doesn't really run a wide 9 per se or at least not as strictly as Washburn ran it. This article explains his defense pretty well.

Much like Zeke, the NFLPA and the NFL, we are poised for and enormous case of brinkmanship. This has all the look and feel of classic Al Davis vs. the NFL. Had it not been for the Zeke case, this might be interesting to watch. Now, it just seems sad.

Well stated a disappointing season all the way aroumd

If they had trouble with the Falcons having their ends wide, wait until they get a load of the Eagles.

And Philly has been doing this for years, so if we don't have an answer for it yet, that speaks volumes to this staff's ineptitude.

All I know for sure is we cant have another performance from the left tackle position like we had last week. Dak will get beat to a pulp. Im hoping that it wont take six sacks from the same guy again for Garrett to realize " the process" has broken down and maybe we just might want to do something about it.

its all complete hot air as regards the owners doing anything to Jerry. To start with you need 24 owners to do anything big and if there are more than 4-6 that are pushing this it would be a massive surprise

My wife and I went to a sushi bar today for lunch. Plastered across every flat-screen TV was Jerry Jones or someone talking about Jerry Jones (6 TV's of Jerry Jones is probably at least 5 too many).

If you believe the old adage, "any publicity is good publicity", then it was a great day for JJ. :)

"Jerry, you are the owner of the Dallas Cowboys"
nods and takes a sip from his captain jack, saluting the interviewer
"How can you let Garrett still be coaching this team"
looks at his drink, and nods to the interviewer, saluting his drink

Exactly what I was saying. Eagles Dline>>>>Falcons. Idk why we act like we never seen that scheme before? Hell how about some ingame or halftime adjustments are we allowed to do that?
