He will never close those curtains. Especially now that people have pointed out how stupid it is to leave them open.
That’s what I like about Jethro. He draws his line in the sand and challenges fans, basically everyone to hold him accountable .

And the fans never do making him the Cowboys wealthiest franchise in sports.

He’ll survive this unless fans stay away in numbers and his revenue is impacted greatly. Public ridicule won’t be enough.

Like some have said. I don’t get why they don’t just tint the glass. Easy fix. No curtains needed. Would be a nice off season project for some company.

Jerry's problem is he always thinks he is smarter than everyone else.

That includes fans, players, coaches, NFL executives, etc.

Someone that is incapable of self-reflection is simply delusional or a charlatan.
When it comes to the business side, JJ is smarter than everyone else which is why the Cowboys are in the top 3 of most-valuable sports franchises. However, his narcissism & stubbornness allow him to believe that he can also be the GM/coach. JJ won’t step aside until the franchise decreases in value, but this won’t happen until the delusional fans stop buying into this over-hype garbage.

A few things I do not understand.

Why is this such a difficult problem to solve? There are multiple solutions for this problem. They can install motorized curtains or even shades to block all or some of the sun glare. Yes, it might cost a few million but it should not require any major structural alterations of the stadium. What is the problem?

Why hasn't the NFL stepped in an mandated this change? One reason could be that so far it seems like the only team affected has been the Cowboys, but at some point it could impact the visitors too in a crucial situation in a game. At some point this could become an embarrassment for the league.

Why does it seem the only team having problems with the sun is the Cowboys? As the home team you'd think they would know the conditions and how to deal with them better than anyone.

Why did they build the stadium aligning the field East-West if they wanted to use so much glass on the east and west sides? Did no one foresee the problem with the sun when they designed and built the stadium?

Has Jerry ever cited a reason for not installing sun blocking? His comment about tearing the stadium down is a stupid remark. No one is asking that the stadium be destroyed and rebuilt. We're talking about curtains. I know his wife has had a lot to do with the aesthetics in the stadium. Is she the one stubbornly resisting sun blocking because it ruins the aesthetic? For a little more money they can replace the glass with reflecting glass that will allow visitors to look outside, while still blocking much of the sunlight shining onto the field. Many buildings use this kind of glass and still maintain an appealing look from outside and inside.

It just seems like the wrong battle to fight. Every time we have an incident like this he looks more foolish and irrational.

It's sad that Jones actually got snippy when a journalist asked about the sun. This has been an issue for years and he just saw a TD get neutralized vs. Philly.
He'll correct it about as fast as he does the RB depth chart.

This is the problem in a nutshell. Intelligence, by and large, is very compartmentalized. A musical genius isn’t necessarily going to translate into the intellectual genius needed for architecture. A mathematical genius might be hard pressed to write a transcendent poem, novel, or play. A highly intelligent quantum physicist might struggle with the intellectual requirements needed for reading people and charismatically becoming a generational leader. A brilliant philosopher might struggle with engineering. It’s rare you have an actual Wittgenstein or Da Vinci on your hands that are geniuses in multiple realms of human thought.

Jerry is a genius salesman and businessman. Jerry thinks that because he has this genius in one area of human thought, it necessarily translates into also being a tremendous GM in the NFL. He thinks he’s a Da Vinci in the world of human achievement. He’s really closer to a mix of P. T. Barnum and John D. Rockefeller, which isn’t shabby at all intellectually. However, the hubris this has created internally within him makes him think he’s a genius in any sphere he wants to dip his toe in. Just listen to him when he says why he’s the GM. He says since he’s the one writing the checks, he will be the one making the decisions about personnel and team building. Oh he says he will take input from others and that he doesn’t make decisions alone, but ultimately he has to make the decision since he is writing the checks. This is obviously just a BS excuse his narcissism has concocted to sell to people. Imagine this kind of thinking with practically any other industry. Jerry, if you bought an aircraft manufacturer, would you be designing the planes your company built since you’d be “writing the checks”? Given that there aren’t any life destroying consequences to his ineptness, he will always treat the Cowboys has his personal play thing. Something he gets media press over AND he gets to tinker and piddle around with the roster of his $11 billion fantasy football team like he’s a kid with an Xbox controller, but he never tinkers and piddles around enough to get good at the job because ultimately he just wants to make money.

He is ALWAYS going to submarine any success if the bulk of the glory isn’t shifted onto him, even though everyone knows he is a part-time GM, in reality, and far less capable in this position than what is seen in most front offices in the league. He wants to be known as a genius “football guy” and it drives him crazy that JJ gets the credit for the 3 SBs during his tenure. It’s primarily why JJ was in Canton before the RoH. It should have been the exact opposite, but Jerry can’t stand that JJ “stole” all the glory from him and punished him. He’s got to go or we will never sniff another SB and this is truer now than it was 10 or 20 years ago since he’s clearly losing mental acuity and dexterity, but none of the hubris and narcissism.

You’re right, fans need to quit propping up this circus show or we won’t get what we ultimately want, another SB.

Did Jerry really say today the cowboys need to run plays at parts of the field where sun is not a factor? Is this our GM?

Maybe fans can start bringing giant sized signs and block out the sun when its a disadvantage to the Cowboys and keep them down when it's not. Now that's home field!

From memory the first time it affected a team was the Falcons. I remember their head coach being very angry (Smith?)
The NFL should step in here.
Jerry thinks it looks tacky! (curtains)

  • Jones' opinion is the sole problem.
  • His opinion is his stadium is the best ever built, for which cosmetic alterations--like curtains, shades, tinted windows, etc.--would diminish would he considers is its unique artistic quality.
  • He prefers not to pay and fix anything that he does not consider broken.
  • The NFL does not have any authority to override the wishes of each owner's stadium standards unless it is poses harmful physical liability to teams, visitors or the league's image. The league will not step in for players' temporarily blinded during a play--unless it is a hypothetically critical play determining playoff berths or playoff games' final results. It is exceptionally unlikely embarrassment will sway them.
  • Other teams' stadiums have architectural flaws that are not as apparent as creating such a blinding glare during afternoon games aided by window glass.
  • I will believe architects warned Jones of the inherit architectural deficiencies of building an east-west stadium until proven otherwise. Football fields and stadiums have been built for over a century, with the vast majority-oriented north-south. As I pointed out in another post, Jones himself played college football in a north-south oriented stadium. It would not surprise me that construction crews were laughing their butts off because of that fact, while building the stadium over the course of several years.
  • Jones has repeatedly cited the everyday temporary blinding glare of the sun's rays as being a minor inconvenience.
  • He makes outlandish remarks in response to criticism. It is a narcissist trait.
  • I would not blame Eugenia Jones for her husband's foolishness. She is just his spouse. There have been far too many documented examples of his comprehension nonsense to lay at her feet.
  • Jones will fight this battle to his dying breath--unless his family, and/or ex-players, and/or nearby television documentary crews try to persuade him out of his defiance. It happened with finally getting Jimmy Johnson inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. It could do the same with getting curtains installed.

also refuses to open the roof for that amazing outdoor feel.

Texas Stadium was designed to bake the other team in the sun - this is designed to invite the other team's fan to come visit.

With all the money that team is worth you're gonna tell me they couldn't install a fancy automatic shade that could lower and reduce if not completely get rid of the glare?

It’s hilarious we have such a narcissistic owner who doesn’t care if it’s a disadvantage to his own team.

No other fans would want our owner. He’s the best excuse a team could have. Seriously .Lol

A frustrated Jerry Jones had some comments about the sun impacting play at AT&T Stadium: “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium.”

Why not put up curtains over the windows?

Jerry: “Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me?

“Everybody has got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues.

“I’m saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”

Just seen a video with black curtains up and Jerry world for the Tyson/Paul fight.

Imagine that at night time.

Maybe someone can talk to his wife ;) to hang up some 'art' (curtains) as part of her putting artwork into the stadium.
