Well IMO Jerry does want to win, most people do, and jerry really wants to win.
Jerry has tunnel vision and draws the wrong conclusions about things, and he thinks it's all about building a good roster.

He doesnt see himself as part of the problem. He doesnt understand the whole culture thing at all. He also thinks
any one of 500 coaches can win with a good roster.

He has built some good rosters, but with poor culture, and not so good HC, they have all failed.

Jerry just isnt smart enough to get the right HC, and add the right FA, at the right time, and have a very good defense all at the same time.

Jerry has said many times, just get in the playoffs, and you can get lucky and hot and go all the way, which tells me he just doesnt understand.

Now what he has done and not done this year, does seem like he isnt trying to win. So I dont know what to say about this year lol except
again he just isnt that smart.
100% he wants to win BUT only his way...his way has never won and he cant bring himself to change it.

For what it's worth -- I caught Broaddus on 105.3 the fan driving home yesterday.

To add more context, both he and the radio crew have also noticed that fans aren't screaming for autographs and photo ops like they have in the past either.

Generally they all could feel the lack of enthusiasm from fans.

I am not going to defend Jerry here but the question was about fan apathy and his comments about ticket sales and so forth was how he was measuring fan apathy. That is a fair statement in and of itself. Now we all know all he cares about is the almighty dollar, but until fans show apathy by not buying tickets and merchandise, he is not changing anything!

“Well let me just say this. I think our fan base is frustrated. And I think they want to beat a Green Bay and I think they want to beat the next one that comes up. Now we were the second seed in the whole NFC and we were as healthy as any club that has been in the playoffs in many years. Not just the Cowboys, any club. We were healthy. We should have gone further. And we had a quarterback that arguably was the Most Valuable Player in the league last year. We should have gone further. Now my read from our fan base is frustration. Apathy? Not when you are so far ahead of the rest of the league. By this is league that takes every 32 clubs... we are eons ahead of other clubs when it comes to our ticket renewal, season tickets, timing of season tickets. When you look at television and you look at the teams that they watch on tv, we’re going away number one. That’s not apathy. They may be hot, they may be wanting more, but they’re not apathetic.”

Reporter: "Jerry, fans are apathetic"

Jerry: "No they aren't. We are making millions more than everyone else".

"So, how was the play, Mrs Lincoln"?

Fans are finally getting tired of this freak show and are putting their money where their mouth is. This is the only way things will change. We just got completely embarrassed in the playoffs, and then in the offseason they make no real moves to get better? Who is going to want to drop money on that?

I think Jerry is suffering from dementia, although, he prefers to call it "ambiguity." :muttley:
Maybe I should display more sympathy for one who can't see things realistically.
In any event the world keeps on turning and the Jones clan keeps doing nothing.

Your first sentence is completely contradictory. If he wants to 100% win, but insists on a FO that he has admitted isn't good, then he does not 100% want to win.

I'm curious to see the enthusiasm at home games this season. The game against New Orleans may be rather telling.

I just saw a news article (and, now I can't find the link) suggesting Lamb's price tag has soared to nearly $35 million... it's hard not to be apathetic knowing that more than 1/3 of our salary cap could be tied to two players - Dak and CeeDee

I don't remember a time when enthusiasm was this low. Maybe early 2000s? But at least then there was the excitement of rebuilding.

Nowadays, Cowboys fans as a whole are probably waiting for a massive shift in personnel or a NFCCG before they'll feel enthused about anything.

At least that's how I'm feeling.

Maybe, for reference, somewhere around 1999/2000 was my first season following this sport and as a Cowboys fan.

I haven't been overly enthused since the 09 ST's draft when Jerry drove a lot of enthusiasm right out of me.

This is the fundamental truth of it all. If someone says they “would do anything to win”, it’s a lie if that does not include changes in leadership.

I’m a Cowboys fan who has an incredibly simple expectation - do everything you possibly can to win a championship. I don’t expect a SB every year or even a deep playoff run every year. But how about once every decade? If after three decades, your team cannot win even a divisional playoff game with 6 different HCs, 8 different OCs and DCs…and one GM, it’s time to change!

If the owner is unwilling to recognize he doesn’t have what it takes to even win a divisional playoff game in this cap era after three decades, he cannot be considered “serious about winning.” Objectively, it’s clear, he’s not committed to doing everything in his power to win.
