Garrett has an excuse for last night's "process issues' at the end of the game. The TABLETS were not in service so he could not check or look it up on the Internet. This is 100% a Technical Malfunctioning Issue. Zoners please move on, Garrett will soon be excused by Jerry/Stephen if they ask for an explanation.

Jerry's way of deflecting the fact that he totally whiffed on the backup QB and the defense he ran into the ground isn't rebuilt yet. No doubt he thought the running game was the be-all end-all when, in fact, it was the superior QB execution on third downs that made it all work.

Didn't Jones say last week that he totally botched the backup QB situation?

Going out of bounds was a mistake. It was a mistake by the guy that made the mistake. Personal accountability is huge for men like Jason – I guarantee this is being dealt with behind doors where it belongs.

Scoring a touchdown was not a mistake. If you think it was a mistake to go up 7 points, you are beyond reasoning with. Plain and simple.

Everything that went wrong after we scored a touchdown could of went wrong after we got a first down. To complain about going up 7 is just asinine. I sat though this season listening to the crybabies long enough. Enough! This is a line in the sand moment here. If you think it is a mistake to take 7 points, you simply aren’t worth talking to anymore. This is my last reply in this idiotic thread.

That's why we see teams every single week run the clock down and kick the field goal with 3 seconds left when in that exact situation. That's been the correct thing to do for the past 100 years and will be going forward until they remove the goal posts and no longer give points for a field goal. The only way Washington had a chance to win the game after the fumble was, 1. if Dallas scored too quickly and gave the ball back, 2. Dallas turned it back over, or 3. Dallas missed the field goal. You can't do anything about #3 if that happens but you can control the first two by knowing how to manage the clock at the end of the game. Staying in bounds and forcing the timeouts coupled with getting the 1st down and taking a knee would have led to them kicking a game winning chip shot with 3 seconds left. That's how its done correctly in that situation as shown by numerous other teams every single week in college and the NFL.

Not that exact situation because it was 2nd down and they had 2 timeouts.

Sorry but I tell my RB to bust the hole and if he scores a TD while tryiong to get a 1st down then so be it.. I have to get that 1st down no matter what!

Nope. How many teams gave up 40 plus points this weekend? Balt lost to Miami. The Colts...the Giants...I could go on.

We are not half as talented as most teams but we are in the games to the last play. That says a lot about the coaching staff whether you admit it or not.

Both 40 point games where won by 3 points.

There were 2 blowouts the entire weekend and one other game that was won by 14 points, what are going on about?

This is a very talented team the most talented in the division, to say otherwise shows an agenda IMO.

But please tell me whose rosters in the NFL who so much more talented than ours?

Most NFL games are decided by a score or less. We've been blown out twice. Look at the other teams with bad records and worse rosters it is similar.

Sorry but losing close games 6 out of 8 times and getting blown out twice is not indicative of an overachieving team. romo was a big loss but this roster is better than many on the NFL.

I think Jerry is definitely disappointed and is applying some psychological pressure because I think he sees Sean Payton's availability at the end of the season. He thinks the team is talented enough to compete for a Super Bowl. If he doesn't think so, then that directly reflects on him as a GM even if hiring a head coach is also part of the GM duties because the former is more direct blame, while the latter is more indirect.

Jerry obviously spoke highly of Sean Payton when he was here with Parcells and thought of him as the future head coach, but nothing could prevent him from leaving to go to New Orleans since Parcells was still here, but then suddenly left soon after.

Not that exact situation because it was 2nd down and they had 2 timeouts.

What people are saying is that McFadden, once having gained the yards necessary for a first down, should have gone down short of the goal line. That forces a timeout. A first down knee forces the 2nd timeout. Two more knees take it down to 3 seconds and Baily kicks a 22 yarder for the win. That is how it should have gone down.

The only way to take time off is to get a 1st down. How do you get a 1st down from the 4 without the possibility of scoring. " Guys, block enough to get 2 yards not 4 OK".

What? It was second and 1 at the four. Do the math.

sigh. you gave a thoughtful reply, but it is still devoid of sound logic and analysis.

you are wrong on the number of things that could go wrong. penalties can kill the clock. We could of gotten 3 points, and left 50+seconds on the clock, even with a single second a return for a touchdown is possible - and a game winner after playing not to lose with the field goal.

a touchdown essentially guarantees the worst thing that happens is overtime - a missed extra point really the only thing standing in the way of that. a field goal gives many more worst case scenarios.

That was the best way to ensure WASH never has a chance, unless Bailey misses a 20 yard FG. Instead they didn't have to use a single timeout - NOT ONE - and they get the ball with 1:15 left.

We had been stuffed repeatedly all night. The momentum to get 1 yrd through impact, when that impact does not occur, is very dificult to stop in 9 feet unless you are not going full out.

Really? This is the angle you're going to take?

This is a legitimate critical thread about the HC guys. It's a good topic. Don't let it devolve into yet another rant and then complain when the topic gets moved or merged when it should not have needed to be in the first place.

I have never seen a Garrett team not play hard. He has the locker room. That's what is important.

Bad clock decisions happen all the time all over the NFL. Same with playcalling, scheme, "lighting a fire under them", and all the mindless, know-nothing blather you hear in every NFL city all the time.

This team is missing Romo and perhaps Callahan, and the offensive line and personnel are overrated otherwise. Romo makes stars out of otherwise average dudes.

We were a hair away from 9 straight losses without Romo. That, my friend, is completely unacceptable. I don't care how much Garrett beauty we trot out to try and justify it. To be that wrapped around one person on a squad of 53? Unacceptable.

This isn't the Jaguars. This is one of the most prestigious franchises in the history of the NFL. 9 straight losses. It didn't happen but it was within reach and we snatched victory from those jaws. I don't know how we did it but I am not about to let any of these coaches off the hook for what I consider a complex lack of strategy. It's bad. Very bad.

As I noted before, Mike Tomlin doesn't appear to have much of an issue at least being very competitive and winning without Big Ben. Perhaps that has a little something to do with preseason strategy around backup selections, situational strategy taught during training camp, and a basic ability to make adjustments during games. Hmmm... Perhaps...

I'm elated that we somehow left Commander nation in the midst of turmoil yet again but I also choose to focus on the things we are lacking as well. Coahing prowess is one of those things.

Playing hard gets you participation medals.

Playing hard with a set strategy that prepares and focuses all 53 men with one solid direction gets you Lombardis.

Thanks for keeping it on point Idgit.

Not only is it a critical thread but for me personally, it shines some light on some things I was wrong about..maybe....that if we won games Jerry would be myopic, chalk it up to Garrett's mindtricks and stay the course. But it is nice to see that maybe he is looking at it from a different angle and that he isn't pleased just to win a sloppy game. It undermines the idea of "at least they play hard."

He doesn't have the locker room any more than 90 percent of NFL coaches out there. Is there dissent in Jacksonville? Houston? Etc etc? In fact they don't have monkeys and locker room media fights as far as I know.

Every NFL team plays hard 95 percent of the time. Garrett is not an exception for preaching that. He just isn't. The Skins played hard last night. It's not a new thing.

Seriously if all Garrett has is they play hard because 5 years ago the team took off a few plays under Wade then that is sad and pathetic.

They don't just play hard for him. They clearly respect him and listen to him. They believe in him.

And no, that's not typical across the league.

I do think the lack of Romo, and by proxy the run game, has exposed Scott Linehan as what we knew he was all along. Just a another playcaller.

What's apparent in watching the games live and on replay is you see Garrett not even being demonstrative while these things are happening! There are times when it is the players fault but you see good HCs screaming about it trying to get them to do it right or chastising them afterwards. Garrett looks clueless off into space. I remember two specific times Romo was screaming in his face practically shaking him during a timeout trying to get him to see what was going on.

I know people like Garrett in work and sports and life. They freeze when the bullets are flying. They have a preplanned script and are OCD about it. They cannot think quick in those situations that require it. Their reflex action is to hope it all works out and if not they didn't have to make the decision that made the difference. These are usually book smart people but not field general types.

That is Garrett to a T. He is not HC material plain and simple.

I agree completely. The only time that I recall seeing Garrett even remotely animated or coaching a point was after Randle drove for a TD early in the season and almost lost the ball. Then Randle didn't see another snap or saw very limitted PT in that game.

I fully agree this is a good topic but how many years can we harp on JG's lack of time management skills. Nobody can fix stupid so why beat a dead horse. He is who he is.
