Well, I am shocked. Not that they lost, because I predicted that, but once again, that they were not competitive after the 1st quarter passed. I expected the defense to struggle, in part because of the injuries, although it’s not totally due to injuries. But this offense is in a negative class by itself. There is not a single reason for it, but a cacophony of shortcomings.

The problem is, I see nothing that can be done this season that will revitalize the offense. There’s no Amari Cooper type trade that will drastically change this offense. And, frankly, that would come at the expense of next year and the year after. Firing MCCarthy does nothing either. The playbook and scheme wouldn’t change, not until the off-season.
