Jerry on potential trade talks: “I don’t see anything heated up to a level that would cause something to happen"

I've been keeping up for a while, and never except anything to happen at the TD, Amari Cooper was an exception to the rule. Heck, Big Hank was a surprise last season. I'm amazed at all these trade threads like it's Madden.
But, if you follow the Cowboys, you can see this offseason was different as well with regards to trading for players. Personally I expect that to continue and think we add (or at least try to add) a pretty good player at the deadline. We did come very close to adding Cooks last year at the deadline. IMO Jerry told Stephen to shove his cap savings concerns up his asz this year because he knows he may not see too many more years and is going to be more aggressive.

Never in life could I do that. I can be envious of what a real FO looks like though. And pray that Stephen at least has the brains to hire a GM when his time comes.
Come on.

Let’s get off this sinking ship once and for all.

It don’t have to be the Eagles. It can be another team.

Why would Stephen suddenly get smart and humble then when he hasn't for the last 25 plus years? He's as unqualified to be the Director of Player Personnel as he would be the GM. He's had no problem pretending all these years and that won't change when the GM spot is open. He will slide right over comfortably.

-Says he's a risk taker
-Afraid to move on from Dak and will extend his contract
-Doesn't even want to initiate any trade talks with other teams but wants them to initiate them

I hate him more by the day as an owner and especially a GM.
That's his risk taking that he talks about.... Keeping Dak...

I hope the people who were mad that we let it be known we were going to cut Cooper and thus hurt his trade value (Yes, I am one of them) aren't complaining about what Jerry is saying or should I say "not saying", right now.
Good point, I guess we will have to wait and see if Jerry is actually keeping everything internal until it happens. That would be a pretty big divergence from the norm for him.

But we can hope.

How would he even know since he said the Cowboys as an organization aren't making any calls?

This sums up my feelings all 3 rip Jerry for refusing to be the initiator of trades and expecting another team to contact him to improve his team. It comes across as lazy and arrogant.

Because it is.

I cannot be the only one who keeps holding out hope that team we have loved for over 30 years would finally be the team that gives a crap? Never should an ownership group tempt one to find another team to support, however, I have questioned my loyalty for sooooo long I must be totally crazy

Those that bash Jerry's comments, why? Why would he say he doesn't like his team and feels they will do something? Think about it, it says I'm deseprate come take my picks and also sends a negative message to the locker room.

A lot of these types of deals can come out of the blue as teams get more anxious close to the deadline. Maybe there have been discussions, but the Cowboys don't think its worth it to part with premium picks for a player thats going to garner a lot $$ soon. Come trade deadline maybe that 2nd rounder becomes a 4th rounder or conditional pick. Keep in mind thr Cowboys dont have a 5th or 6th round pick at the moment either which seems to be the sweet spot for some of these deals.

When Jerry finally stops being GM Stephen will be the only one with the potential to break Jerry's ongoing record for longest tenure at GM without even making it to a conference title game. Nobody else has the "intangibles" to break such a monolithic record.
