This just angers me because it again shows that I don't think they really ever have a plan and stick to it. They just go about picking players they think are good.

Rewind to 2015. They passed on giving Murray the big deal he wanted because they believed they didn't need to spend all that money on a TB t have a running game and be successful. Then they panicked and drafted a TB with the 4th pick and paid him a ton of money (his rookie deal made him one of the higher paid TBs in football at that time). Now they are in a contract squabble and Jerry is essentially saying that they necessarily don't need a big time TB to win because there hasn't been a team that has won a SB with the leagues leading rusher since the mid-90s.

It's clear he's dug in. But it's bizarre (and simple contract negotiations) that he's arguing you don't need a leading rusher type TB to win a SB but he's apparently got an offer on the table that woudl make Zeke the 2nd highest paid TB.

EDIT: LOL, he's also wrong about a leading rusher winning a SB as noted above.
If reports are true then Jerry has offered Zeke the 2nd highest RB contract even though he has two years left on his contract and has had some off field issues. Some have argued that even paying that is too much for a RB -- any RB. So it is hard to argue that Jerry hasn't made a good faith effort and is being consistent with their draft strategy.

Starting this week Zeke will lose 250,000 a game. Not sure how long he will be willing to miss those checks.

Lol it was you who wanted to go on about his "sources" when he referenced none. It was a piece based on speculation and you felt the need to get snippy at me.

So what do you think he was saying when he said, "Behind the scenes, Dallas has always contended. . ."?

I wish Jerry would just STHU. I am more on his side than Zekes but he could do well by shutting up.I guess this is all part of it. Run your yapper to the media

The way he’s behaving is the way he’s been since day one as owner of this team.

Some of you people amaze me with such comments.

Zeke has no leverage. Two years left. Jerry went to bat for you every time you were in trouble that’s why jerry said what he said. Hell even Stephen a loudmouth was on jerry side.

I think zeke is playing this wrong. He knows he has value but if they start winning without him then what. You still have 2 years left. Are you gonna sit out for that long?

With the salary cap.. I don't have a problem with what they have done at tailback since 2015. Our lack of success was because of our pass game that year.

We need to get better at throwing the football. Zeke is just the cherry on top of all of this.

When we throw better Zeke will run better too.

3-5 to begin last season and Zeke was a top rusher.. 7-1 after acquiring Amari and improving our pass game and Zeke was still a top rusher.

If we want a championship it will be on our 30+ million dollar QB and defense's shoulder's.
this was was always going to be this way its on dak the defense and Kellen moore

A couple of his lines stood out to me that Jerry said...

1. There hasn't been a team win the Superbowl with the leagues leading rusher since we did it.

2. We've had Zeke for 3 years and we didn't win a Superbowl.

He also said that they think they are better prepared to attack teams through the air when they take Zeke away. (That's is actually embarrassing that an NFL team wasn't more prepared for this anyways)

Trying to calculate if he's so unimportant why they drafted him 4th overall then

Let me clear this up:

Emmitt Smith was the leading rusher 1991-1993, and 1995 and collected 3 Super Bowl Rings, Terrell Davis was the leading rusher in the AFC 1996-1998, leading rusher NFL 1998, and collected 2 Super Bowl rings in that time period. Jim Brown led the league in rushing 1957-1961, 1963-1965, played in 3 championship games, collecting 1 NFL Championship, and never had a losing season finishing 1st in the division 4 times in 9 years.

During the last 10 years only one team that won the Super Bowl did not have the leading rusher in the game and out rushed their opponents. The only time it did not happen, Pete Carroll refused to give a RB nicknamed "Beast Mode" the ball at the 1 yard line to rush for an easy TD that would have won the Super Bowl. Beast Mode rushed for 132 yards in that game.

Finally, Jason Garrett's only double digit winning seasons occurred with the leading rusher in the NFL (Demarco Murray 2014, Elliott 2016, 2018). His record without the leading rusher in the NFL is 5 games below .500.

I do not know why anyone listens to Jerry Jones.

You changed the argument to 1 game.

The teams that throw the ball most efficiently are in the playoffs and winning Superbowls.

Maybe the leading rusher in the game wins the Superbowl I don't know.

Can't help but notice that @PAPPYDOG has been a lot quieter on the board since these latest revelations. Could it be this fake fan sees the writing on the wall and is getting ready to jump ship?

Dallas could but would they pay him for games not played? I doubt it.

Also, I think you're putting too much value into 1 season and that is what a bad salary cap spender would do.

The team is prepared to play without him and they get him back by week 10 anyways so he still has to play almost half the season.

So you're only real argument is that Dallas might give him game checks back if they feel generous and OH NO THE SEASON IS LOST even though he still has to come back by week 10.

Zeke's leverage that you say he has depends on Jerry Jones getting stupid with his money.

Dallas has him and there isn't much he can do about it for another 2 years besides sit and get fined.

Hey, I get that this is what you really, really hope for and that you want Zeke to pay for his business actions but I'm just telling you what is. We could literally have the season be lost by Week 3 or 4. No team wants to risk that if they can avoid it and that is why they are still talking. "Stupid with his money" is a debatable thing. If you think you're the best, you probably want to be paid like the best. Now just happened to be the best time to go on the offensive towards that goal. I get people being bent out of shape but it's business, which is far best dealt with when one can take the emotions out of it. Most fans can't though and why this thread will be at Page 18 by day's end.

Jerry Jones on @1053thefan talking about Ezekiel Elliott’s contract holdout: “If we do a new contract, what’s to assure us that this time next year or three months later, we won’t be talking about another contract? If we’re not gonna honor contracts?”

Ask Dez and Ware that.

I wish just once that Jerry would just stop talking period. Jerry...Just...be....quiet.

I love it.. I want to be entertained.

Talk all you want..

I think every team should be more transparent and I think every team should have their own version of hard knocks.

The more behind the scenes stuff we get the better.

It also needs to be noted that if the team does play poorly without Elliott, enough of the public opinion of Dallas fans and general fans and media has turned that it will be pinned on him being unreasonable rather than Jerry Jones not getting the deal done.

Whether it's true or not, I think enough of that opinion was swayed against Elliott.

I just think this is a horrible argument.

What if we don't win the Superbowl and we just caved into all of Zeke's demands?

You don't just hand out a dumb deal like that because you might not win the Superbowl.

We have to be some kind of an epic failure to not be in the mix when he comes back in week 10. Our schedule through the first 8 games alone should keep us in it this season.

Yep.. Zeke has to show up by week 10 or the process starts over again.

Zeke's "leverage" costs him a fortune at the end of the day and he can't even use that leverage the entire year.

Even worse yet, if he skips out until week 10, between lost salary and fines, he would be coming back and risking injury playing the final six games for less than $1 million. That's just dumb.

The ultimate gamesmanship move would be for Jerry to sign a legitimate vet RB with skins on the wall that gets released in the next few days. I don’t know who the possibilities are but their are always vet RBs cut before week 1. Go get one to team with Pollard, pull the offer to Zeke, and wait for his next move. I’d be more than happy to end up trading him for a nice pick or picks and drafting another RB to pair with Pollard going forward. Use Zeke’s money to keep two other young players and be set at RB for 3-4 years at a fraction of the cost. Oh yeah, and be done with all the headaches Zeke brings.

Zeke is under contract so of course he will be blamed. It's his fault.
