Like I mentioned...it's a faint glimmer. I...WE...can only hope/pray/wish that he just does this stuff to keep deddy happy. Because we are gonna get him whether we like it or not.
And you're going to get a cheaper version of Jerry. I don't see any other difference whatsoever.

Quick story. Stephen is the Director of Player Personnel. The top scout in the building after the GM. When Micah was drafted, at the draft recap press conference that year Stephen was asked if he watched Micah's last game which was the bowl game the year before (he sat out the covid year).

Now this is the friggin (replace with real F word) Director of Player Personnel. His team just used a top 12 pick in the draft on this player and his response was "No but I saw some highlights and I talked to Brad Sham and he was really impressed."

YouTube it for confirmation if you'd like.

Is there any wonder why they need Will McClay there to break down the players they selected? They don't know them. They don't do any of the work their job titles require. They just covet the job title. Stephen as much as Jerry. They are the same.

What you just wrote actually gives me more hope. He doesn't want this job or even take it seriously. He wants someone else to do it. When Jerry is gone I think Stephen hires a true GM and kicks back and just enjoys being a billionaire and leaves the football to the football people.

Also, don't get me wrong, I think if he continues as GM, he will be worse than Jerry because Stephen is cheap.

Yeah you obviously completely misunderstood.

A man who is willing and enjoys pretending he's the Director of Player Personnel all these years will do the same as GM.

Jerry has no interest in doing the GM work either. That doesn't make him hire a real one. He wants the title. He wants the final decision making power. Stephen is the same.

I went with Jerry.

It amazes me Stephen could have been inside a pro football organization since he was 23 and still not know what he's doing.

Jerry at least has some skins on the wall (although he was in misery acquiring them).

I feel the Dallas Cowboys will be likely to keep lingering in mediocrity with either Jerry or Stephen in charge.
They both suck at what they do! What really matters the most with them is money and their brand.

From what I've been able to see with either of them in charge, is that this team will suffer with them around.

They both live for the power that they wield, and insist that what they do is great, even if they know it's not!!

I know. It really doesn't matter which. Neither is the right answer. That answer carries every state and all 538 electoral votes if it's on the ballot.

But guess what? It's not. You must choose. Jerry or Stephen? Which would you pick to be the GM of this team for the next decade? Choosing one eliminates the influence of the other.

So if you choose Jerry you're getting Jerry without Stephen's voice in his ear. If you choose Stephen you're getting Stephen without Jerry's input.

Kindly indulge me in this fantasy. And votes will be made public. So this is serious stuff.

You're at a fork in the road. One way takes you to Jerrytown. The other takes you to Stephenville. And you're not allowed to put it in park, run a hose from the exhaust and take a nap.

Which direction are you taking?

Either way, Cowboys! in your face.

PS - First one to say neither is a Rockport and must relocate to Hawaii.
Honestly neither. because if this offseason follows what last offseason was, I won't be watching any games. Sure, I'll pay attention daily to what's going on but I'll do the same as I've done the last half of this season: find something else to do. I refuse to let the product that the Jones boys have put on the field. The only thing that may spark my interest is a movement of youth for our HC position.

Fellas, we got ourselves a Rockport.

Start packing. Mahalo.

I don't really care. I refuse to accept mediocrity so why would I just chose ineptitude? Ignorance? Your post, @Risen Star is all about accepting those things. I won't. This would be different if ownership was trying. I could just about accept any other owner in the NFL but the Jones boys simply think they know more than anyone else and refuse to change.

I'm gonna hang onto that thread of hope...because really, what's the alternative?

Spoken like a true Iggles fan. All of your fans hope Jerry lives another 20 years.
Ideally, as an eagles fan Stephen takes over and holds on until he passes. My point was that is why the grass was greener under Jerry’s rule.

Based on what I read that Stephen is the one who won't take risks and is the cheapskate when it comes to free agency, I will take Jerry, even if he is in the early stages of dementia.

I picked Jerry. He’s not living another 10 years and still GMing for one.
Well since you put it that way, yes.

I would say Stephen just because there is a chance he wont be as adverse to hiring a real HC with real authority. Jerry never will again.

For the last 30 years Jerry has so badly wanted to be Jimmy, but realistically he couldnt be the HC so he went with the next option.
