OK--I am all in now! Not joking--serious..........best owner in sports has spoken but, as always not before consulting with his staff.....he is basically telling us what he has heard from the coaches........that is what I love most about Mr. Jones......he is a big fan that gets excited and cannot keep it to himself.......love the guy!

And you are the perfect fan for him to continue to perform his P.T. Barnum act on.

No need to attack the guy. He is just a fan.

Not really attacking our zealot friend, but simply stating the truth that he is an example of the target audience of Jerry Jones when he makes over the top comments that most people chuckle about. He's not alone. So there's that.

And you're certainly not alone with the many zealot contrarians who seek to bash anything that comes out of his mouth. But hey, I'm sure you'll describe yourself as a "realist," which somehow makes it all better.

When he starts making logical sense, then I am sure the "bashing" will stop. Since those are few and far between and then we have quotes like how Free was "nothing short of amazing", you can do the math on the percentages of how often that will happen.

Not sure I would have used the adjective of Amazing, but Free playing guard after a few days of practice against the Bengals line was, my adjective Hopeful/Promising.

Considering the circumstances, his praise was not unwarranted.

And that is a fair way of putting it. Free did do pretty good for a first timer. And if he said "encouraged", that would be perfectly fine.

But Jones cannot resist using colorful adjectives to sell it. Sorry, it gets insulting after a while when the results rarely, if ever, match the expectations he sets with the commentary.

I have no problem with the AMAZING part of it. Frankly for a player to never play that position before (HS, College or Pro) and to go in and do what he did after one week of practice is pretty amazing.

With that said here is what I think happened...

They decide that when they have him take the pay cut that they might move him to OG.
However they want to see what Leary can do on one side. They also want to see if maybe they can get one of the other guys (arkin, killer, livings or bern).
If those other guys don't pan out they move Free to OG and try Parnell at RT.
This would seem to also fall in line with them alternating Free and Parnell at RT last year.
This might also fall in line with them looking at not only looking at OGs but also looking at C and RT (pugh) in the draft.

Now amazing could be used for one game in this circumstance with no actual playing time in his career.

PLUS the idea that it might just have worked. My personal opinion is this is what happened behind the scenes... Initially it was panned off as just a contingency plan in case of in season injuries. I think this was their way of trying it out and if it was a big flop they would just put him back at RT and say...see we were just testing things out. But I think to their amazement it went better than even they expected against a pretty good D Line in Cincy.

The problem is if it can continue...if it does continue with good results than that would also be amazing but in a better sense since it will be long term.

So I know we will all play the semantics over react and tear into every little bit of everything to make it a positive or a negative to fit our own view points game...but in this case it could be seen as a legit statement no matter what your personal opinions could be on the subject or even if you think one Jerry Jones is just doing more snake oil salesmen pollyanna routine to push on to the fans.

I know they usually sit the starters for this last game BUT if Leary is healthy I think that entire offensive line including Ty Leary Fred free and parnell should play at least a half together since they never have.

For sure fred free and parnell should considering their amount of experience at their positions and that we dont have a bunch of players to evaluate below them really. I would bet the staff knows right now who they will keep on the line barring a last minute signing. But the starters need to play together and not wait till that giant game. They can sit almost every other projected starter but the OL needs to play together.

It depends on how you view exactly it is "what he did".

He played RG, a new position, in an exhibition. Regardless of it being a dress rehearsal, we all know good and well the Bengals were not unleashing a full defensive gameplan. The stunts and twists which people like Atkins make their living off of were fairly minimal and got fewer and fewer as the game progressed.

If this were two weeks from now on national television, yes, it would possibly be amazing. And even then, it has to be evaluated in the grand scheme of things. There are significantly more appropriate ways to acknowledge his efforts and describe them appropriately.

There was once a RT in Dallas named Javier Collins who dominated Michael Strahan in his prime. Never heard from him again after that game.

And for one game...it was pretty good to amazing. Nothing to get your knickers in a knot over, unless YOU let it get your knickers in a knot.

No knickers in a knot. Just a little tired of him not only lying to the fan base but even worse, to himself.

Give me a break. The term "amazing" in that context is inherently subjective, and there's little you can do to show he was "lying." And you especially won't do so by proffering blanket, unsubstantiated statements. Get off your high horse and get over yourself.

I fully concede that Free looked serviceable against the Bengals and the move has a possibility of working in the long term. The problem I have with this approach is that it shows a lack of foresight and planning. While it's great to be flexible and be willing to try new formulas as circumstances dictate, the fly by the seat of your pants approach is an extremely risky way to run the team, and I would guess that such moves have a greater frequency of failure than success. OL has been a problem for years and we're still at the point where our best option is to move to guard someone who has never played the position so someone with limited experience can play beside him at tackle? I find that worrisome as far as what it says about the way this team is managed, even though I'm cautiously optimistic based on the Bengals game.

Just because you don't agree with the term amazing and think it should be Good or decent instead of amazing does not mean the man is lying. The sooner you get that silly line of thinking out of your head the better off you will be. If you equate him lying just because you don't agree with his choice of adjectives than yes it does seem like you have your knickers in a knot.

We'll find out soon enough.

They should've done more with the OL. Now they are trying to fling something against the wall and hope it sticks.

I'd hate to have a bad year because of something that was so obvious that needed fixing.

My how time changes. I remember how much of a tight-wad BP was and how often we use to here about reigning Romo in from his 'free-wheeling' ways. Now BP is supposedly telling us that Romo needs to go out there and let his creative juices fly.

This is amusing given the fact Jerry Jones makes a living off of proffering blanket and unsubstantiated hyperbolic statements to a fanbase that rarely, if ever, come to fruition. That is exactly what he is doing yet again, selling hope and he's got plenty of customers it appears.

Amazing is not an inherently subjective word. Talk about sematic spinning...
