Jerry quotes from this morning on radio intvw discusses OL

My how time changes. I remember how much of a tight-wad BP was and how often we use to here about reigning Romo in from his 'free-wheeling' ways. Now BP is supposedly telling us that Romo needs to go out there and let his creative juices fly.

Jerry Jones stated Parcells "endorsed" the idea. I would be interested to hear Parcells' exact words instead of the Jerry Notes from the conversation.

Amazing is not an inherently subjective word. Talk about sematic spinning...
Um, when utilized to describe your opinion on someone's performance, it certainly is subjective. Read the post entirely before commenting.

I admit to rolling my eyes a bit after I read the word "amazing," but I'm not going to parse it six ways to Sunday.

This is amusing given the fact Jerry Jones makes a living off of proffering blanket and unsubstantiated hyperbolic statements to a fanbase that rarely, if ever, come to fruition. That is exactly what he is doing yet again, selling hope and he's got plenty of customers it appears.

So what? Sheesh. Newsflash: fans like to feel good about their team, owner wants them to be excited. More at 11. I can imagine that, if you were spending 10s of millions on a project every year, you'd be pretty excited about the possibility that it'd have paid off, too.

Say what you want about Jerry slinging snake-oil, he puts his money where his mouth is. The guy knows that having Dallas competitive is the best way to be able to move his product. Just enjoy that there's a pretty good team getting put on the field, and stop worrying so much about what the owner says to make people feel good about it. We all really do understand that the odds of advancing in the playoffs and winning a Superbowl are slim. That's how the league is setup, for a good reason. It's supposed to be hard to do.

He also said "nothing short of". When that is used at the beginning of a sentence it takes the meaning of "only" or "nothing except". So it is not subjective.

Amazing? LOL

I don't understand how you guys can love and praise Garrett and then do the same forJerry when he is undermining him at every turn.

Would Jason ever call a player's preseason performance "amazing"?

anyone taking anything serious from drunken Jerry Jones needs to join the real world

I read your post, and to add my comments again on this new post, amazing is always used as an 'opinion'. It doesn't make it inherently subjective as to what Jerry is trying to convey. You may delude yourself into thinking it is, but that is you semantic spinning...

Here's what I don't understand about people like you -- why do you care? Seriously, why do you care that our owner is excitable and tries to get a fan base excited? You don't buy in, so it doesn't affect you. It's a sport dude, not all of us care to have a stick up our butt about it.

When the results show a "pretty good team getting put on the field" and the results show it, then maybe the worrying will stop.

If there is one thing he did when the Cowboys were last actually a great team is that he did not resort to salesmanship tactics to market the team. He allowed the results to speak for themselves. He is incapable of doing that now because he is in a constant salesman mode because he has to be.

I do not even really care if he spends day to day insulting the intellect of fans that are watching his product fall short of his unrealistic bantering. The issue is more that he actually believes what he is selling and that is the danger of what he does.

Jones has little to no credibility when it comes to assessing the play of his team. He can't state objectively what is taking place - he has tickets, PSLs and merchandise to sell.

Try ignoring him. That's what I have been left with at this point.

It won't. And I don't recall Jerry keeping his mouth shut when the team was great, either. This is just his personality. But, still, what's there to get upset about if the guy wants people to get excited about his team? I'm not sure what it is, exactly, you're protecting yourself from. You can be hopeful, and then disappointed, and still keep in context that the team wasn't successful in its attempt to do something that's really hard to do. They're not letting you down personally. You're not being duped. If you really think this is all some high-stakes quick-change act, then I fail to see any point in watching no matter what the outcome.

Ignoring him is a perfectly reasonable response. I only listen to Jerry inasmuch as you can tell sometimes what the coaches are probably thinking by the clumsy way Jerry tries to talk around internal issues. For a billionaire, he's almost charmingly transparent. I say 'almost' because it can be annoying to hear him give a big hint at what the team is planning just because he can't keep a secret.

Looks like that knot is getting tighter and tighter as this goes along...

I want to see what's next!

He is an absolute detriment to the field operations of the team. He can't separate fan/marketer from the management aspect of the team. The two things are in direct conflict with each other.

You do know that GMs and owners around the league do the same thing right? Stop Jerry bashing.

It was only a few years ago that former-GM of the Eagles Joe Banner said "we have the best roster in the NFL." Would Andy Reid ever say something like that?

kinda like some people can't separate the fact he won't ever step down from the need to constantly whine about it.
