“First game for him that I can ever remember that he was not on the sideline. Who’s relaying the play into Tony, so that Tony can decide whether he wants to run it or not really is not as a big a thing as who’s up in that box, looking at the whole field the way you and I watch the game. It’s just a better view. Wade Wilson has such skill, such experience. Tony and Jason both have all that confidence in him. I think he’s found a home up there because you sure can see some things from afar that you don’t see on that sideline.”

LOL... Man, this Garrett being the greatest coach potentally ever just trips me up...

Uh, why don't all the coaches go up to the booth then if it increases their coaching powers exponentially? Send Garrett up there.

Garrett is doing fine and now that the call come to Garrett much easier to change it and have better communications with Callahan of what he wants to do much quicker. As for being in the booth since it gives a coach a more complete view of what is going on as opposed to the sideline there will be some coaches working above and others interacting with players. Wes Phillips is now on the sideline and has a good relationship with the players so his input on the field is a benifet

Callahan called a good game vs NY players still have to execute if they don't then who and what plays are called do not mean a damn thing

There was a huge difference in play calling on sunday and I liked it. We weren't as predictable, like we were the last few wks running on first and second down every drive. On Sunday there was variation to our play calling, a lot of play action and a mixture of routes.

but how do you know it was callahan calling the plays? garrett, wilson, callahan, and tony are all 'involved'

this is the beauty of the cowboys, they have created a system where no one is accountable, everyone is involved, so if the sysyem fails, everyone can look at everyone else

very similar to our talent acquisition process (both vets and draft) where everyone is involved, therefore no one is responsible (and so the GM escapes the blame because he takes input from everyone)

give the cowboys credit, they have taken a process that failed elsewhere and applied it to offensive playcalling so garrett will never be truly responsible and there will be plenty of convenient scapegoats

What's it going to be then, eh?

Wade Wilson has such skill, such experience

Please.

He has experience mainly because only Al Davis and Jerry Jones are the only two GMs willing to keep him employed as a QB coach.

Because Jason said Callahan was calling the plays as for accoutablity Garrett is the HC success or failure offense or defense falls to him. That is the beauty there is one HC he is the man who is accountable

I know fans love the finger pointing I will make it easy for you Jason Garrett is HC period you want to point the finger there you go.

You're a cynical man, but in this I don't think you're wrong.

Who can put the finger on any one person the way it's set up?

But the people that matter won't point the finger at him. They can easily point somewhere else- which is what's been going on.

That's what counts and is the un-beauty of it all.

So, Wade Wilson, the QB coach has that much input into the play calling? Talk about group decisions, no wonder this offense struggles.

We have not had anybody in the booth in years.

Garrett has called plays from the sideline every game since 07.

Before that parcells/sparano/Haley/Payton called plays from the sideline and if I remember correctly in 04 mo carthon was in the boothe but in 03 he was not.

Now all of a sudden this is a major detail... Jerry is so goofy.

Jerry is not as dumb as you people think he understand the role of the HC hell he played on a national championship team chances are he knows a hell of a lot more than fans who sit on their couch playing Madden. Jason Garrett is the HC the buck will stop with him. Jerry clearly is backing his HC as every GM does however even when Jerry assures people that Garrett will continue to be HC that does not mean much since many HC have been fired at the end of a season after the GM stated the HC was safe. It comes down to winning and it also comes down to what HC out there may draw the GM interest. My hope is Garrett can get this team into post season and perform to a high level if not then it could be time to look to another.

And they had people in the booth even when the play came from the sideline the guys upstairs relay to the coaches on the sideline. They are not wearing headsets to keep their ears warm.

It makes sense that you would want someone with input on the playcalling to be in the booth. There is certainly some truth to the fact that you can see a lot more if you are up there than you can on the sidelines.
