Jerry Says Cowboys Spent A Lot Of Time Pondering Manziel

Are we to assume that the Browns would be dumb enough to not resign Manziel if he were to play well his first 5 years?

Yea I don't believe it. They'll franchise him first. If he's bad then Jerry will probably try to get him so he can say he turned him around.

Moss was a rare and extreme example, you're right. He was far and away the best player by the time he was taken.

That is not remotely the case with Johnny M. There were teams out there that would not have considered him BPA even the 3rd round.
Removing off filed stuff for Moss, there's no way there were teams that would have thought that way about Moss.
Johnny dropped more due to questions about how good he will be at the next level.

BPA is more of a tier thing. If you have five guys in the same tier and one is rated higher than the other in that same tier, it's no big deal to take the player you feel is of greater need.

Good points. You're right he's not the bpa consensus at all like Moss was. I may be wrong but I think we and other teams will regret passing on him anyway.

With what was on the board. While i like the Martin pick because it further improves a young OL. But Manziel was the BPA by far. You develop Manziel for 2 possibly 3 yrs and you have a OL that is basically in the start of their prime. Tyron, Leary, Fred,Martin,Add young player here. And you basically make the switch seamlessly from Romo to Manziel. And then you still have 2 years on Manziels rookie deal.

I could see Dallas taking a QB this yr coming in round 1.

Let him be in Cleveland and come back too Texas ala Weeden

There's a fine line somewhere between the two. A good coach knows when he sees a guy that fits what he wants to do.

But thats why we need a GM. He is supposed to be balancing long term decisions versus short term. Coaches jobs are on the line every year and tend to focus on short term needs.

Only Jerry could try and get publicity off a guy he didn't even draft.

Next he'll be inducting Vince Lombardi in the Ring of Honor.

I don't think you're seeing straight.

The only way Dallas takes a first-round quarterback next year is if Romo's back injury does him in.

To this, I say the same thing that I say in regards to Jimmy Johnson trying to trade up for Ray Agnew and James Francis, but ending up with Emmitt Smith (where people say he didn't want Smith).

So what? Who cares?

It only matters who they took. And, with Zack Martin, the Cowboys got it right.

Don't sweat it fellas, if we suck and the bottom falls out then we will be picking in the top 5 next year and we can grab Mariota
