It’s easier to double cover Beasley because he is one dimensional. Everyone knows he’s gonna run that 6 yard out route on 3rd and 4.

Maybe Bease isn’t as one dimensional as the team makes him be. I’m just saying that Crayton was a more versatile player. He could catch balls down field and be a consistent 3rd down option.

Nobody ever bothered to double Crayton, though. And Beasley caught 75 or so balls last year, and he was doubled a fair bit, then, too.

Once again, Garrett is not the GM of this team. He has a say, I’m sure, but he is not the decision maker. Garrett lobbied for us to draft Zeke so obviously he has a say.

There is nothing wrong with the general manager stating he expects a player that is under contract to be with the team next season. Jerry oversteps his boundaries a lot but this is not a case of that.

Yah bro, I get it. Believe me I know. But the point is that the head coach with any kind of salt needs to have a say. He is useless. And if he is happy to have little say and be a puppet then he is nothing but a lacky anyway.

Nobody bracketed him last year like they did this year.

It was a simple adjustment and it pretty much threw our plans in the dumpster.

I take Beasley personally. Not a head case and get open over the middle. Good slot guy.

Yeah, he's a better player. Not as versatile, as rob said, and not as good a returner, but he's so much quicker and has better hands and is so much harder to cover singled up. He makes defenses adjust to him in a way Crayton never did.

Last year's performance was a bit of a mystery, though.

He's a huge distraction who isn't worth the money. You absolutely cut him.
yup, create some dead cap $$$ for the next 4 years. Irvin was far worse than Dez, don't think Dez was ever caught sittin on a kilo of coke trying to hide in from Johnny Law but that's OK. Irvin was one of the most disruptive players on the sideline when things did not go his way....maybe we should have cut him!

They were bracketing him regularly by the end of the year in 2016 and leaving Dez singled up. I'm not sure what changed last year, other than the run options plays not being as believable. But he was completely taken out of the games for some reason.

Even when Elliott was available, he never had a game where he was like he was in 2016.

The simple explanation is that we arrogantly thought nobody would adjust and it was business as usual.

That is what we do. We have WRs doing the same roles. This guy does this, this player does that.

I know Butler sounded like sour grapes, but there is truth to it.

Our WR route system is broken. There is even the evidence from Dooley's apparent displeasure.

You cannot ignore the evidence.

.

49ers game was probably the best in his career. He was also amazing in the Commanders game.

He didn’t start off great but he was picking up steam before the suspension.

Jerry says anybody with years left on their contract will be back. Which is what a quality GM would say. No need to evaluate. Do they have years left? Well, welcome back.

Crawford earned his paycheck more last season.

Crawford is overpaid but he was a very solid contributor.

My whole thing is Dez has proven to be elite and I understand he was far from last year. Crawford never once proved to even be a good reliable starter. He was always getting hurt and never produced the sacks. Im loyal to a fault but I really think let’s get a legitimate threat at WR and pair him with Dez

Hey, one day his dog-like devotion will pay off.

In spades.

Just wait.

Crawford was a good, reliable starter last season.

He will never live up to his contract. That’s really the only reason fans have to hate on him. He plays injured, he’s gold against the run and he does create some pressure at times.

You could always do better but you could do a whole heck of a lot worse.

Keeping him next season is the right call. The Cowboys have nothing close to a number 1 receiver behind Dez and though the 8 million in cap savings helps, you're just creating another hole and forces the team to reach for a receiver in the draft. Best bet is to give Dez another year, invest in some WR resources in the draft then make a decision on Dez.

Though Sammy Watkins is nice on paper, he's been injured a lot and hasn't reached the level of play one would expect. Reminds me of another Roy Williams that someone will overpay.

They also have nothing close to a #1 receiver IN Dez.
