Thinks Tony will be back in time for OTA's and says it's too early to invest a high draft pick in a qb. Said he's gone through this before with Aikman so he's experienced and He thinks Romo still has a long career ahead of him.

Good deal. Focus in the draft should be defensive and offensive lines.

So what round would you draft a QB in? If you draft a QB this year, then no way would I even think about using a 1-3 draft pick. If you're going to groom a QB, then you can draft one in the late rounds and mold him into the QB you want. .

Grooming a mid- to late-round quarterback is mostly a myth. It doesn't really happen much.

Your right. Let me reword that.

In todays football, I think QB's will be able to play longer because of all the technology. Peyton Manning will not be the only one to come back from more severe injuries.

Fair enough

So true. I don't understand why so many people keep suggesting taking a QB late to groom. When a team wants a starting QB, they get one in the first 3 rounds. Not many teams are selecting 5th round guys to sit for 3 years to take over for their current starter.

It has the merit of filling a key position without "wasting" a valuable early round win. Seems like a win-win. ;)

Jerry is doing the right thing here. Romo has about 5 years left in him.

No way Tony plays until he's 38 or 39 with his injury history. I say two more years he tries to play but I'm not sure he'll ever be able to play an entire season healthy again.

Opinion are like rear ends, everybody has one...

I think most would agree that targeting a certain position in a round with no regards to the draft board would be foolish. What if when it's our pick and we are targeting DL but there isn't a DL in the top 10 on our board? Would you reach for one just because you want one in round 1 and 2? Guarantee most would think that would be ludicrous.

Was thinking the same thing when I read thread title. Packers didn't need Rodgers when he fell. You take a qb if a good one falls in your lap!

Exactly, I don't think anyone is saying reach for a qb, just in a qb rich draft if one falls you take him.

If a prospect like Aaron Rodgers falls in your lap, you take him regardless period. Qb is far and away the most important player on a team by a large large stretch, you can never have too many good ones but if you don't have one, you don't have a team

Tony may not ever be the same QB again. Short sighted not to draft at least one .
